Hi All,

I've ordered the parts to build a throttle body setup. Exciting stuff! I've been looking at everyone's setups and there seems to be some people mounting the TBs what looks like upside down. Is this purely a clearance issue or are there other reasons?

With regards to my setup I am keeping it cheap therefor I am:

- Getting help from my cousin to make the inlet manifold from donor. 140mm in length
- Using 45s as you would expect
- Got Jenvey throttle linkage, TPS and loom adaptor coming
- Keeping standard injector and fuel rail position
- Not putting any injectors in the bodies (contentious I know but I can't justify it)

Any tips on mounting would be gtrat Ive had a look through Damien and Mei's projects which have been helpful!

no need to use a linkage, get the pq2 direct pull lever, make a simple bracket to hold the cable.

upside down bodies are for two reasons, clearance and injector angle, works very well if you have twin injectors too.

if you only use one set using them futher out will be more beneficial to torque i believe, a chat to Sandy would clarify that.

I cant seem to find pq2 anywhere. How much does it cost? I might be able to change my order.

Ok so if im not putting injectors there then maybe the position doesnt matter its just about making it fit

give them a call, there was no extra cost at all when I ordered mine new.

there's a few pics on this thread of the lever type, saves a good £80+ and makes a much nicer pedal feel.

Sandy explains the reasoning behind the underslung injector rail.

i would highly recommend getting a satchell inlet, theres a lot more work in them than welding the flanges on, theres a lot of time in the porting jigging snd facing off afterwards

Ok cool well i got mine from Miles. I might see what he says tomorrow so they just come with the pq2 attached by the looks of it?

My cousin is going to weld it, port it, faced off, shot blasted etc. Im keeping injectors in their standard position so orientation isnt important for me.

Mine came with that lever set up as I did the same thing and looked and called them and that's how they came. I have a satchel manifold but have blocked off the original injector holes and fitted them into the bodies as only running 4 injectors and every other jenvey set up I've seen has them in the bodies (unless running 8) so opted to fit them there using the standard injectors

Yeah dunno if there's any gains in it I just followed the masses. Certainly a lot easier to leave them where they are though

Yeh thats what im thinking. Wayne at Chipwuzards isnt convinced it makes a huge amount of difference. Ill just get the injectorss cleaned and thats it.

Having had a standard engine on Jenveys with 4 & 8 injectors I can say it's better lower to mid range but costs are considerably higher ...Special ECU / loom for 8 Separate injectors ...it made a big difference to mine when Sandy mapped it both times ....it's about blending & the mapper of course Thumbs up

I'm going 8 injectors again the end of the year & separate coil packs maybe and remap ..just for a better smoother engine & a little bit more power LOL

Just wish there was some figures from Sandys dyno as every car that gets dynoed there "doesn't grip the rollers". There's no doubting the mans a genius as results speak for themselves and his big builds that go on the engine dyno always make good numbers (if I had the cash id love a sb emgibe) but would be nice to see some of the smaller builds have graphs etc as would be interesting to see why they are better I.e see the curves etc as we all know peak numbers ain't everything

Only other thing to consider is filter set up as on my 6 I really struggled to get a good filter in there with a long inlet length (I had long inlet and 118mm long bodies)

Didn't you have Satchell inlet on yours and still have to do some modifications or am I thinking of a previous setup? Can't remember now been through so many projects!

If that's the case then I hope my cousins inlet will be the same!

as stated above in my 306 with said inlet manifold with 118 length bodies and 90mm trumpets and there is very little clearance. I know some like yourself albeit on a zx use the shorter jenvey bodies which give a bit more room

Just trying to give facts on what I have physically seen as mine was a nitemare due to the long length although did make good power. I do also have a satchell manifold this time round on my 205 and there a clear difference in inlet manifold length so maybe he makes them shorter now?

This was my 306 with the above
