Hi Guys, i just purchased Pug washers low boost off this forum so hello to you all. I have had a Rallye for the last 4 years on the track but apart from being caged and stripped it had no other mods but was great fun.

I'm not new to car tuning but its better to ask than make a load of expensive mistakes. The low boost I have is a suck through lynx system with a restrictor plate on the inlet before the charger, Is it possible to enlarge the restrictor to increase power to say 280 to 300bhp and get the car mapped by chip wizards. Its already running larger injectors and appears to be in first class mechanical condition.

Also if any of you Guys have any tuning parts, LSD's, big brake conversions, engine mounts or other good parts available I would be very interested. PM ne or text me on 07711 894 968.

Thanks guys and look forward to posting on the various forums.

I believe the restrictor ring is at that size to not stress the standard engine anymore. Currently the low boost is very reliable. If you was to increase the power it would have an effect on the reliability. If you want more power i would suggest you go to High boost.

If you PM RichW about it, he will tell you excatly what hp fails the standard engine under boost as rich put a lot of time an money into the key to get the best bang for your buck.

get it on the rollers wouldn't push a low bossy past 280bhp really unless you want to blow it up. Rich says you could get 300 out of it if you put a 5mm decompression plate in but that's not been tested so again it's whibis going to be the first ginny pig and try it. 280 is enough with a LSD and good handling and braking mods.

280bhp should be enough to stay with Meganes etc on the track and maybe show some of them a clean pair of heals with the right set up, as mentioned above ?

Bit of advice. Running a S/C will make you want to go much faster so make sure your car is up to scratch before you start to go mad otherwise you will end up in trouble. I'm running 310mm Brembo RS stoppers and I've had big brake fade after a spirited blast Thumbs up

great advice. I run wilwood 4 pots as most of you know with standard size discs and have never had brake fade they are really good.

Lol, I wouldn't say the brakes are crap, the fluid hadn't been changed to proper stuff and the pads were wearing low. Also, I was holding my own against some 'very modified' motors Thumbs up

Brakes on my old 306 Rallye were never up to much so I learnt to drive with s**t brakes, just used to use the gears all the time not ideal but it became very effective after some practice, bit harsh on the engine and box but it stood up to it for 4 years of regular trackdays. Dont want to blow the new 306 up so will definatley be going for a brake upgrade this time.

I got the 310mm bells and rotors with Renault brembos and they are decent and and work extremely well. Demondriverdan actually has a set for sale and he has some RC6 carbon Lorraine pads too. Wink
They will be a few pages back in the for sale section bud.

from the little i know of the s/c cars i wouldent take it any further without going to the high boost setup
(which i believe im right in saying is forged internals and lower compression)

i was keen on that car also and if i did buy it i would have asked on here whether it was advisable to have it turned down not up as im sure i read somewhere that someone blew their engine producing similar amounts of power

Speaking to Ben & Ian of Godspeed brakes it's the braking /disc size that hard to match ? He said a 310 set up the same as a 330 meaning same everything wouldn't be as effective....size

I understand myself things can change that like how the calipers are mounted etc ...but if everything's the same ...Size is king ?

I'm running near 290 on a Race N/A engine with Ashs 330 bells & Rotors / 406 refurbed calipers with Castrol race brake fluid & Ferrodo DS1.11 eurdance pads with no ABS & Goodrich lines & Wilwood Bias vale ....I'm always flat out in mine for far to many laps & ive never ever had Brake fade & ive been told the Renault Brembos are even better Thumbs up

I really couldn't imagine & wouldn't want or need any better than I have they take your face off Whistle

Can't comment on S/C stuff but Loving the banter though LOL

The Renault brembos are better. 4 large pistons when the 406 ones have 2 large and 2 smaller, plus the Renault ones are mono block so stronger by design.
