My car seems to have developed a stalling fault.

It has only happened a couple of time now, at first I thought it was me miss judging the clutch biting point after fitting a new clutch cable but I think it's definitely the car.

It's happened a few of times on the way home from work, once at some light, once at the junction and then when parking up.

When I'm off throttle and the revs should drop to idle that's when it stalls. The throttle body is clean, could it be the ICV or the green coolant sensor?

How do I clean the ICV? Might try that first.

Cleaning the icv rarely works usually best to replace it
It is however classic icv symptoms

Buy marelli!!!

Had the exact same problem, ended up being green ECU temp sensor.

I had the same problem and it was an air leak. split in the induction pipe. check for air leaks first before spending money on new icv or sensors
whilst engine is ticking over spray some Carb cleaner over air pipes and if the revs pick up theres a leak

I thought air leaks generally made the cars rev up. Bit the resonator under the inlet manifold. They often crack.

Thanks guys.

I shall check for air leaks as that can confuse the ECU and could cause issues like this.

I've got a feeling it'll be a temperature sensor going by the smelly exhaust when cold, think it's too rich when cold.

The lambda was changed in May and has only done no more then 1k (Bosch unit).

I'll buy a temperature sensor and ICV to keep as spares for future issues.

What sort of prices are people paying for a new Magneti Marelli ICV? This sounds like the MAF on the HDI, only the VDO unit is worth getting as cheap ones fail early. I've found a Marelli unit for £37, it's £140 at the dealers.

With the temperature sensors where would this be be bought, at dealers it's £74, I feel that's a bit pricey for what it is. Is there any particular make to go for on this?

air leak on the intake pipe of these won't make a blind bit of difference, its a map sensor on the plenum so there aren't any sensors being bypassed.

After seeing Cully's post about Amazon I did a search and found that Magneti Marelli one and bought the last one.

I'll try the that sensor first then the ICV.

Does anyone know if the TPS is a track and wiper type sensor or a hall effect type like in the HDI's? Just thinking if it's a track and wiper type I might get one of them soon to keep as a spare.

Simple potentiometer - track and wiper. Thumbs up Tested mine sending an audio signal (music) through it, varying the the throttle position (volume) and listening for rasping sounds or jumps in volume.

I was hoping it wasn't a track and wiper as that tends to wear out.

I'll get a TPS next month as there is no doubt there will be a lot of where on mine.

That's a great way of testing it without a scope.

I might have to for now but I don't like reusing old copper seals.

Think I'll get some m12 copper seals on order.
