i have a phase 3 tailgate (and a phase 3 spoiler to match)

Generic image:-

say i wanted to smash the glass to repsray the tailgate properly

do i need some sort of seal from Peugeot?

i have checked my VIN in the service box but i think my car originally had a phase 2 tailgate with the bigger rubber bit that shows (and takes a phase 2 spoiler)
and the black strip down the bottom of the tailgate Thumbs down

generic phase 1/2 tailgate picture

There are different seals for both i believe ph2 the thick black rubber and ph3 a hidden thin rubber thats sits under the glass
You can cut your tail gate glass out with a glass remover wire much like a cheese wire do this carefully and you can save the glass and the heat element
Finding a replacement glass could be hard doing

I think day666 can supply the glass if needed.

I've just been dealing with this issue as I want to get my tailgate sorted. Some recent info on this here (including source for new non-OE rear window glass):

http://www.306gti6.com/forum/showthread.php?id=162940&page=2#28

The OEM glass is NFP but I got one from Belgium. I know of another one that was offered to me after I'd ordered mine and I can pass you the details of the dealer in Belgium who has it.

As far as the 'seal' goes for a P3 tailgate, a 'tailgate glass moulding' part no 8745 48 is shown on servicebox as needed for my VIN (which has always had a P3 tailgate). The part quoted for my P3 tailgate was about £100 from the dealer. I didn't order it in the end as the parts guy said the glass installer should have the kit to install a rear window correctly. I change my mind every time I think about it and may end up ordering it anyway.

I've got a new rear window and am picking up a second hand tailgate next week which I will get painted up nicely and the new glass installed. I'll talk to the glass installer before I do anything. I did want to remove my glass and reinstall it on the new tailgate but, while that is possible, the last glass guy I spoke to said the tabs for the rear window element wiring nearly always break off when removing it, so better to have a new piece of glass to hand.

Autoglass might still have some kicking around, best to give them a call.

glad to hear im not the only one having this problem

might need that contact then
only problem is the cost of getting it up to Inverness area? Hard enough getting stuff up from england LOL
i could easy find a window guy to fit it

that code does come up on my VIN on the pug service box

was worrying that when Autoglass/etc turn up they will have a phase 2 glass and seal?
then my phase 3 spoiler wouldnt fit?

That's why I didn't initially buy it, I was thinking it might end up being something I didn't need. But on the other hand...

Ref getting it to Inverness, I paid for the glass, but the Belgians wouldn't send it and told me to organise my own courier. I did so (the company was a recommendation on here) and they were great. Don't see why they wouldn't deliver up there? Another thing is the Belgians don't do credit cards so I had to do a bank payment. It all worked out fine though. Sing out if you want the details for the dealer with the screen.

I agree Autoglass might or might not produce exactly the same item(s), that was part of the reason I went OEM

I used http://www.interparcel.com/ to get the glass over here from Belgium after finding a recommendation on here for them from Welshpug and they were excellent and the price was quite reasonable.
