Hello everyone,

my name is Michael, I am 23 years old and live in Germany. I bought my first car in 2010 - it was a '01 5-door 306 1.6i with 98 bhp in red with 116000 km (about 72k miles) in good condition and it did not take long that I fell in love with it. I have learned much about the car and 306s in general. The desire awoke in me to get a GTI-6 (they are named S16 in Germany, also the Ph2 and Ph3). I always wanted a Ph3 again and in original state but it is very, very hard to find any GTI6 in good order in Germany. In the last three years I had a look at six GTI6s from all over Germany but none was in satisfactory condition, except one. They all have been tinkered with a lot, were completely neglected, or damaged in some way. The one in good condition should be sold for 4k pounds and that was not even perfect. Currently there is also a very good one for sale but for 5500 pounds. You see, the prices are utopia here.

In May '15 some guy without driving license crashed into my freshly repaired (new gearbox and clutch) parked PUG, totaling it. Sad Both left doors and the B-pillar were crushed. You could not even move the driver´s seat (left side in Germany Wink ) anymore. Fortunately the car remained driveable, so I have used it for the next two months until I found a cheap black '01 3-door 1.8 XS with 87k miles. My damaged red one had about 115k at that time. The XS was generally in a okay condition. It was optically neat and had good history but has not been serviced since 25k miles when I bought it and had a knackered rear axle. The timing belt had to be done and some other minor things. Since Ph3 306s are not that easy to find here I bought this one to bring it back to mint condition.

Long story short: It took me 5 months to get it ready. I already had all the parts ready for a rebuilt but did not anticipate the rear ARB to be fooked, too. The rear beam has been lowered many years ago but the guy who did this forgot to put the foam seal back in. It was all rotten. DHL and GLS managed to lose two ARBs I bought as replacement. Still no refund, no nothing. I have been without a car since June 15 until November because I deregistered my old 306 (other system in Germany) to register the new one, as I thought it would be ready within the next two or three weeks. Bad decision, now I know.

However, it was not all for nothing. Two weeks before I found a local complete rear axle to fit to the XS and finally get it on the road, a new GTI6 came up for sale 280 miles away. '00 Ph3, platinum silver, completely original, first owner 00-01, second owner 01-15, complete service history, everything always done at a Peugeot dealer. 146k miles but it was always maintained well, oil changes like every 7k miles, non tapper and pulls well. Even the alcantara has no rips! Only like two dents here and there and a crack in the rear bumper. Guys - I bought it. FINALLY! Big grin

I gave it a very good clean inside and outside and a polish. Looks like new now. Wink I have done 7k miles since I bought it and replaced some things like all engine and gearbox mounts, oils, aux belt, Xsara washer jets, several sensors including VSS, MAP, Lambda, TPS, ICV, cleaned and rebuilt the throttle body, indicator stalk and fitted an original front splitter (was missing), KW V1 coilovers I stole from the black XS Whistle to lower it 40 mm (refurbed them before) and summer wheels which were planned to go on the XS and some other minor things. The rear beam will be lowered soon when I get to rebuild it. It drives even better now with all that done. For the future it is also planned to put a high quality audio system I already had in my red 306 in it. I sold the black XS to a friend, who is very happy with it and my brother is happy with my old red one. He said he doesn´t need the back door. LOL

This forum here was a VERY big help when doing all those things and getting to know the new engine and the GTI6's specialties and I am sure it will be in the future, too. Yes Thank you all for this and your effort you put into this forum! Thumbs up Smile

Here you see some pics. P.S.: the rear badge is refurbished and fitted again. Wink
