How do you guys keep the history recorded?

In my Dturbo I shoved the invoices in a folder. I did start a record on the computer but never kept it up.

Keeping track on when it's due I go off the service indicator on the dash.

I'm thinking of getting some of these to record things on the GTI.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10-x-Blank-Service-History-Book-Maintenance-Record-replacement-for-any-car-/191873903240?hash=item2cac936a88:gBig grinAUAAOxy86RSXWSC

They look good but I think I might need a bit more space for comments on additional work eg suspension work or aircon.

I might just print my own version off at work.

I just bought an A5 notebook and every time I service or replace anything on the car I write down the date and mileage at the top of the page then a list of what I did. Then I just put the receipts in a box file where the notebook is also kept, seems a neat and efficient way of doing it.

I have a folder full of plastic wallets. Every piece of paper goes in a plastic wallet, primarily reciepts.

I'm the same as RetroPug. Spent half an hour one night organising all the history that came with the car into a folder in chronological order, and I've added in every receipt since I started my ownership along the way. Managed to fill up an A4 folder so far.

I like the sound of a job sheet.

The job sheet could go in front of a wallet and the receipts can go behind it.

I suppose a summary sheet/book could be at the front of a folder for quick reference.

All in one folder, in any random order, no time to organise it, just too many other things to do in life (like write on this forum) on my day off. Back to my wishbone template now. Leave the laptop alone!.

I use a box file which includes all invoices, V5s, the original sales brochures etc, and on top I have a handwritten summary sheet for the major service items (engine oil/gearbox oil/cam belt/water pump) which I mean to transcribe onto a word or excel doc. Nearly full now, need another box file soon.
