I have a low boost charged 6 and it goes perfectly very smooth and fast drives well however I want to know is it meant to be a bit lumpy on tickover sounds as if it has cams in it. Needle does not move stays perfectly still

Do you mean the car feels lumpy/vibrates or the sound out of the exhaust is lumpy/erratic?

My car has developed a lumpy feel and it is down to a knackered lower right engine mount

Mine is smooth. Sits at 1K for a few seconds, then lowers for a few seconds then up, then down etc but not lumpy. I have a stiff lower mount too.

They are designed to idle higher than normal. Around 1k is spot on but no it shouldn't sound any different ticking over than normal really.

Idle speed is increased on the ECU software to around 1000, depending on what version of the software you have.

Idle should be smooth, could be a number of reasons for it not being. Lambda is probably the first thing to try. If you unplug it and it's no different, that may be why.

Can be lots of other things though.

Definitely the correct part no. for the lambda? Seem to remember something about gtis not liking anything other than Bosch but no idea if that is the same for charged cars.

We've found the NTK lambdas not to be that great, we always fit Bosch LS3717 as they seem more responsive and last longer, particularly on the SC engines which run higher EGTs than standard motors.

The best bet is to put it on diagnostics. It won't show any codes, by looking at the live running data you should be able to see if you have any lazy or dodgy sensors.

I wouldn't worry about it too much if it drives fine. Cam timing and exhaust system can also effect how it behaves at idle.

Drives fine Rich, very very rarely of you have driven it for about 10 miles, turn it off. get back in turn it on it will start then die straight away, as if it just didn't catch the revs as they dipped (icv) however the icv seems absolutely fine other than that and as said needle doesn't fluctuates. turn it back on and it's fine as if it didn't happen

nah the idle is all good. just sounds like it's got cams. I can live with that sounds good. haha

HOWEVER..... Once the ar is up to temperature after you have driven a little if you then turn it off for example you pull up to put some fuel in, when you come to turn it back on again it dies. always turns on from cold fine everytime. Once warm it will turn on and as revs drop immediately die
