My bonnet release cable has broken, basically all that has happened is the very end of it which fits into the release handle in the cabin has broken off. I can still see the end of the cable and can open the bonnet by pulling on it with pliers.

Has anyone got any bright ideas on how this might be reattached to the release handle?

Failing that, how easy is it to replace by tying a new one on the end or a string on the end and then to the new one and threading it through? Will it get snagged etc?

Thanks

I could get a new one and have a go at replacing it but I'm wondering if anyone has done anything with the end like welding a small cylinder to fit the handle like on bike brake cables?

I don't even know what's supposed to be on the end as it's just a frayed cable now. Laugh my ass off

Yes I do need one. Is it possible that they're different on Ph.1 and Ph.2 cars though? It would be horrible to go to the trouble of fitting it and finding out it is too long or too short.

I'll try some main stealers tomorrow.
