I can get it to stop doing this by holding the gearstick.
It used to do this a little in reverse coming off my drive with the old mounts but nothing like this
Any ideas?

ok so fitted some baker engine mounts today and my gearstick has started making a horrible rattle/vibration when letting off the throttle at 3k+ revs. I can get it to stop doing this by holding the gearstick. It used to do this a little in reverse coming off my drive with the old mounts but nothing like this Any ideas? ________________________________________ 1997 P1 Gti 6 Charged |

Are you running uprated linkages per chance? ________________________________________ 1999 Astor Grey GTi-6 OEM+ |

Yeah got rose jointed linkages on it. Seems to be coming from the base of the stick though Is there any bushes where it joins the bottom of the stick to the gear rod? ________________________________________ 1997 P1 Gti 6 Charged |

2 fitted yeah. There is also that ball stuck to the gearstick itself which I suppose could loosen over time. If you can manage with the car off the road a couple of days it may be worth dropping the assembly or at least get it in the air and and have someone wiggle it so you can see if there's movement at the point from rod to stick. ________________________________________ |

Your removing the rubber part from the linkage so some noise may become apparent, not all do it for some reason, I have all mine fitted with them (Naturally) and never had any issues.Shameless plug, Linkage's stocked and currently the smaller rods have left and right hand threads so you can adjust them on the car as removing them is not the easiest thing to do. ________________________________________ 306 Rallye Sptint/Race Car, 205 CTI 1.9 8v to name a fewRoad, Track and Race/Rally car preparation to your personal requirements, Full Workshop & Diagnostic Facilities New and Second parts, from Plugs to Turbo's We now also carry out Routine Servicing www.pugracing.com & FB Page, https://www.facebook.com/PugRacing Ebay; http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Pug-Racing-Shop 2012/2013/2014/2019 Class Winners at Gurston Down Speed Hillclimb & Joint overall, Class record too along the way, |

Old thread I know, but just to clear this up I have this car now.Where the car has a rather nice 2.5" exhaust and the position of the lambda means it fouls ever so slightly on the main linkage. ________________________________________ 205 Van SC'd GTI6 - because why not309 Goodwood V6 - sold 205 Rallye GTI6 - Bent |
