It was savagely quick and the handling was fantastic, however it wasn't all plain sailing...

The brakes were struggling, getting very hot after a few laps ( I might have got a bit carried away on the 1st session Whistle ) so I came in and bled them.

I also got told off for being too noisy on the drive by sound test so had to take it easy out of camp and along the straight.

The clutch was slipping if I booted it too hard in 5th gear, so I carried on and used the day as a bit of a learning curve, not braking too hard/late and not giving it too much stick in 5th. It was still plenty quick enough and loads of fun!

Then later in the afternoon coming out of Old Paddock I lost all power and had to be towed in... Turned out to be a damaged crank position sensor, I'm guessing maybe part of the clutch might have flew off and hit it?!

So a few bits to sort before the next track day:
- New / quieter exhaust
- New stronger clutch
- Bigger brakes (although for now I might swap the Mintex M1155 pads for some Carbone Lorraine and see if there's any improvement)

Was great to meet you at Combe Pete and the car looks brilliant m8 ...credit to you Thumbs up

I personally think your wasting your money changing pads ...You’ve got a high boost 415-460bhp engine in it and the clutch was slipping meaning it wasent no where near potential speed ....you need 310- but better (330mm) Radial mount Brembo Renault = Ash Hargreaves conversion / brakes to fit under pro1.2 /16s ....with a Endurance pad CL6e or Ferrodo DS1.11 would be my choice ....

I’d go AP clutch to ....not cheap and will need flywheel possibly?????

All you need is your centre box made bigger and back box checked packings not blown out or missing Thumbs up

Go careful though ...when your clutch grips it’s going to put so much pressure on everything including drive shafts and mainly Gearbox ...I know you got the straight cut gears etc but I think your not going to end up using all the power 415-460

Pete keep the updates coming and buy the best stuff now rather than finding out the hard way ...Thumbs up

I've killed a few crank position sensors over the years, they seem to be a bit of a weak link from my experience so i carry a spare in the helmet hammock and a 10mm ratchet spanner too Laugh

From my experience you'll not cook proper pads like the carbon lorraines or carbotech's, but like Damien mentioned it might be worth trying to get some bigger discs fitted as you'll be putting a lot of heat into them with them being a smaller diameter. If you are determined you can squeeze 315mm discs under some 15" wheels, i've managed 310mm under 15" pro race 1.2's.

If you haven't already, consider fitting some ducting for the front brakes, i fitted some that just blasted cool air from the fog light openings down some tube which was then tie-wrapped to the wishbones. It makes a noticeable difference from personal experience, i used to cook my DS2500's on standard calipers/discs 2/3 of the way round the nordschleife, after the ducting i could do a whole lap with no issues.

Nice update by the way, love the pic with the flame out the exhaust Thumbs up

Yea these sail through the static test but really struggle on the drive-by. It’s very tempting to get a new backbox with the tip pointing down at the ground.

I've had a couple of crank sensors fail on the track car in the past. I now carry a spare to all trackdays just incase.

Ash has had one go on his 205 before on the road as well, that’s how we were able to diagnose it so quickly on the day. I’ll be carrying spares from now on
