Guys,

Quick question about the rear hubs and separating them from the trailing arms.

Assume I have to pop the cap off the centre of the hub to get access to the nut? Any particular way of doing that? They look at though they should be domed. Mine look like they've been hammered in and pushed in the domed bit.....

Want to separate them as the bearings don't sound great and I want to do a proper job of blasting them clean.

Thanks

Prise cap off with a screw driver or sharp chisel. Un-stake and undo the nut, then hammer/press the stub axle through the bearin/arm to get it off.

The bearings are integral to the hub so you replace the whole lot if they're knackered Wink

Great, thanks Allan.

Assume the bearings are easy enough to replace? Bit of heat and press new bearings back in?

as for removing the old one I try not to knock the stub pin out, it varies a lot if they will come out easily or not, use the same technique as removing the inner race from a front drive flange.

Buy a 3 legged puller from machine mart for removing the bearings, bout £15 iirc, saves removing the stub pin.
