Does anyone know what colour the OE sump sealant was?

I'm wondering if the engine in my 205 has been resealed before as it looks someone has been pretty generous applying it (white).

I've a frustrating oil leak which I'm thinking may be the sump seal. It's primarily affecting the bottom half rear of the block. Initially I'd put it down to the carrier or cam cover but that appears to be dry from what I can see/feel.

Am I mad to think that oil from the sump would be forced up as high as the water hose on the cam cover end? I did a track day recently and the oil residue has hit the inner arch/floor section and travelled a good foot under the car. The only other explanation I can think of could be the head gasket perishing at that edge? Stuck my head in behind cam belt cover and that's dry enough.

It's become apparent since I've put fresh oil in just before the track day so it's perhaps a small hole which is made worse by thin oil?

My first task is to take it to a jet wash and get it in the air and degrease/wash if off and see if I can see if leaking. Don't want to spoil my own drive doing so LOL
