Hi all,

Having issues with the '6 at the moment, can't seem to get it to start. It turns over nicely but just won't start. I can hear the fuel pump priming and there's definitely fuel in the tank. The last 3 or so starts it has sounded as though it's struggled. Battery is pretty much drained now but I have a battery booster on it.

A couple of strange things going on too, I've lost central locking, the clock doesn't work, the interior light doesn't come on if the doors are opened but does come on if switched to "on" with the ignition on. Not entirely sure on this one, does the oil level / temp gauge normally displays on ignition or only when the engine starts? I'm getting nothing from it. Also the engine fans seem to spin on low on ignition.

A little odd as I've checked the Ph3 fuse thread here and none of those functions seem related, also is there no fuse for the central locking? I have tried replacing a few of the ones that seem most suspect but still nothing - http://www.306gti6.com/forum/showthread.php?id=67123&page=1

A little stuck for ideas now, though research seems to be throwing up the crank sensor, what do you think?

Any idea which fuse that is? Can't see it in the FAQ, or am I being a doughnut?

Check all the fuses Matt.

You will have a 5A one blown, somewhere in the interior fuse box.
This has happened to a few people before with exactly the same things not working at the same time.

The fuse runs interior lights, parts of the instrument cluster, central locking and the immobiliser.

Cheers,

Stan.

Glad it's sorted mate, I knew it would be one of them. Yes

They seem to go over time, few people had the same thing now.

Hmm, they've just blown again.

Battery went to s**t a few days ago, seems to be getting drained. Charged it up last night and put it back in the car this morning. Central locking worked fine, went inside for 15 minutes, came back out and the central locking was dead and again won't start, need more spare 5A fuses.

Anything on the 5a circuit that could be doing this? Cheers

Edit: Done a bit of reading and seeing alarm siren being the culprit a lot of the time, any other advice?

Really hoping it's the siren and not the door loom. Thinking back, the battery started draining around middle of last week when I was driving in some very heavy rain / wet roads, seems the siren is susceptible to water damage. I'm at work til this evening so will give it a go and report back. Thanks as always guys.

After unplugging the alarm siren and replacing both 5a fuses it seems to be working again! I won't trust it until I'm safely at work tomorrow though as it did let me down this morning haha. Thanks for all your help guys
