So I've read loads and loads of threads about cams and pocketing pistons etc.

Here's the dilemma,

I'm not sure whether to just fit something safe like Newman ph2 or something a little more fruity and have my pistons pocketed a little deeper.

For those in the know how, will I/ should I renew my main bearings/ big end bearings whilst the pistons are out? (hypothetically speaking). What else would this involve - crank polishing etc.???

One last thing, who up North (Leeds area) should I trust with the work should I choose the latter?

As the title suggests I fear I may have just opened a can of worms!!

PH2/PT81 etc is the furthest you can go on a standard piston, ideally you should have pocketed pistons to run any of them other than the mildest Piper cam.

you can only go 1mm deeper.

Try CAS Engineering or AMAC engineering, both in Northallerton.

Be worthwhile refreshing the bottom end whilst its apart but not essential, some ARP bolts wouldn't hurt either if you're planning on tracking it.

If your prepared to pay out for cam work, do it properly and get big cams and the bottom end built.

Don't see the point in spending a few hundred quid just for 5bhp when you could get that from a good service.
