Has anyone ever ordered one of these Polish reconditioned beams? A friend is after a recon beam for his Rallye and found these on ebay:

http://m.ebay.com/itm/251286646626?_mwBanner=1

Prices seem very good, just wondering if anyone has any experience of the quality?

Cheers.

Here you go: http://www.306gti6.com/forum/showthread.php?id=161377&page=1

Price seems to have gone down by £40 since then too.

Been looking at these myself. On the face of it, they look pretty decent in terms of value.

However, the one thing that they seem to be missing (and I don't see any mention of) is ABS sensors..... Imagine they are not cheap....

Is that deffo for the rears Mei?

What's the part number? I was looking at a part number of 4545.46 on service box which I got from another thread. Not sure if that's front or rear though, or even if they were different in terms of front/rear

Mei is correct.

I can't compete with polish prices, but the fact I use genuine parts means more to some people

I understand that Andy but the one thing that really, really peeves me is the fact Companies like Peugeot just whack on a big chunk because it's in one of their boxes.

A good example is a rear wheel bearing for my beach buggy. All the big online parts retailers (I'm not sure on VW) want somewhere between £17 & £20 each. Buy the very same SKF bearing, from a specialist bearing retailer, and it's £7 something. Exactly the same part, to exactly the same spec, just not in a VW branded wrapper. It's that that really gets my goat.

If I were looking for a new beam (which I probably will be) as long as its been built with the correct spec parts, (I.e. similar to the example above) I couldn't give two hoots where they are from. If it's been built with el cheapo bearing company bearings, then I wouldn't be interested but if I knew it had the right bearings, source for me isn't an issue. If you said to me you had a new beam, built with parts direct from the parts manufacturers (SKF bearings for example) I'd be very happy. I'd know they are the very same parts I'd get from Peugeot, without having to pay the stupid extra prices they feel like charging.

Yeah, I'd read that.

Thats point I'm trying to make. I couldn't give a s**t it didn't come out of a Peugeot box. It's the right bearing, from the manufacturer who made them for Pug. Just as good for me.
