My other half has a 307 sport 1.6 16v and I noticed the other day after doing 90ish for half an hour or so it started sounding like a bag of s**t.
Was tapping like mad. So I let it cool down and checked the oil. It was full.

Anyways the car has not done it since but she only drives round town, no high revs. I've taken it out and given it some redline a few times and its been fine.

So I've just changed the oil and filter and 4.5 litres came out. I've put a little over 3 litres of new oil in but the dipstick is saying the car is over filled. That can't be right surely?

Any suggestions.

Start it up, let the oil pump do its job and pump oil round the system. Give it a couple of minutes then switch off the engine and check the level again

Yeh tried that. Well after some internet searching it turns out the car only has a 3.3 litre sump so I have the right amount of oil in. Someone has put to much in it before we bought it a couple of months ago.
