Does anyone know what the pay pal fees are if you don't send the money as a gift? I used http://www.paypalfeescalculator.com/ but the buyer doesn't think its correct and I don't have a clue

    No idea. I'd tell them the amount required (£266 in your case) and it's up to them to get that amount to me. If it arrives £5 short, then I'd ask for the £5 deficit to be paid.

    I'd just say - pay me the money you think you need for me to receive the balance.

    And if it's short, ask for the difference. No doubt their end they can see by sending X the buyer would receive Y and make the necessary adjustments.

    yup sent that before I noticed your previous reply, iv never sent money other than by gift so didn't know if it gave you the option for them to cover the fees

    Paypals exchange rates are utter s**t as well as being a complete dark art to try and understand.

    By the time you factor everything in, I reckon the above is about right
