You can fit some 195/50/15 rubber on super cheap if you're using the car on track too,it'll change the final ratio ever so slightly but will improve handing a little as you'll have less side wall.

And tell me about it mate, every time you post a thread up something else goes wrong with my bloody car.

Ta for the tyre advice Thumbs up

I can only apologise for the coming months when i actually start tackling medium difficultly stuff! LOL If you're ever up in Glasgow i'll get you a beer or 10 to make up for it Big grin

No worries mate,I'm obsessed with my motors so spend most of the day on here anyway! I know everything there is to know about 15 inch tyres though as I use them on my track mx5. The mind boggles as to how many hours are spent thinking about the minutiae of our cars.

After an hour of digging, i've finally ordered 12 wheel nuts.

Called around a few tinternet folk and they said i must be doing something wrong! (they must read this forum!) Big grin as i was asking for a very short bolt!

I also found out that the shortest i can buy in 19mm hex has a 24mm shaft which if my calcs are correct is right on the limit i.e bang on.

Now with my new glass is half empty lookout on life (only when it comes to the 6 - i'm definitely a life is good kinda person!), I'm not getting my hopes up, but at least the guy i spoke to from http://www.mtec-racing.com/ knew that they are measure from the bottom of the taper so that should give me the correct thread length of 22mm. And i guess It's better to be right on the limit than too short!!

I also managed to pick up the right length locking nuts as a bargain price....it pays for the postage costs of returning all the unsuitable stuff!!

Here's hoping it all arrives by the weekend! And then i'll update this with a "I set the car on fire" post Big grin LOL:

10mm is not enough I don't think, is it using all the threads in the hub? If not you need some longer ones

I'd guess from my measurements they are about 8mm too short.

Getting longer bolts should be easy.

I struggled with shorter and 19mm hex.

I reckon your about right there, I doubt very much that 10mm is enough, that does not sound safe to me.

LOL Deffo not if the bolt doesn't sit flush with the back of the hub I'd say too short!

their may be an official voice on here that can tell how far into a hub a wheel bolt should be to make a secure enough hold Dunno

but i sure as hell wouldn't risk it!

My speedlines on my 205 are direct fit with tapered bolt seats, I think my bolt length is around 32mm, I know different wheels will vary but 22mm seems quite short.

Me neither I wouldn't drive that until you get some longer bolts.

22 mm thread length / 24mm from the bottom of the taper. So i'm guessing the bit where the bolt goes through the Oz wheel is about 5mm thick. I guess that's how they make them light!

I'll find out soon enough!

Just as an update to this:

Oz finally got back to Performance Alloys (after ignoring my emails).

And apparently i have non-standard hubs. Erm...don't think so. I have standard wheels and factory bolts on. Or i've skimmed 5mm off the Utraleggeras. Hmmmm how the fek would that be possible.

So replied back to PA saying exactly that. And asked them to ask OZ if someone could skim 5mm off the inside of the alloys, why haven't OZ done it. And how come the offset isn't affected such that they don't sit too far in from the arches (i sent them a photo)

Their issue is that i used the spigot rings and some of the nuts! Erm How else was i to know they wouldn't fit and hence weren't fit for purpose!

Another update (Note: The wheels have ET16 stamped on them - so i can't make sense of it)

"Oz racing have submitted a claim with the Technical Department who are going to look into this issue and get back to me with the out come.

I will let you know.

The only way I can see the bolts being too long is if the wheel came in too low an offset and the backpading of the wheel was skimmed to make it sit in more but OZ would not have done this."

Ha ha for once this is not my doing. Yes

I'm up and running with much cheaper aluminium spigots, proper length bolts and locking nuts. So it's not holding me back. It's just getting the refund back that's the issue. They are claiming i used the items (which i did) and somehow the fact they don't fit is my doing.

I just can't see how an ET16 wheels can have 4/5mm shaved off them. (To be fair i don't know) Also considering they are Ultraleggeras, i can't imagine OZ left too much meat on the bone in the first place to shave off. And i'm if they have been shaved down 4/5mm they wouldn't look right, but as far as i can tell they look like the OEM.

That's ridiculous logic, it's like trying on clothes in a shop and being made to buy it because it's been worn. I hope you get your refund Thumbs up
