My missus is after a new car but I'm struggling to pick something out thats interesting. Maximum budget of 5k but would prefer to spend much less, £2.5-£3.5 ideally. The vast majority of driving that she does is around the City so nothing big, must be decent on fuel but still have a bit of poke, she's selling up a Cooper-S so doesn't want to lose all of the fun.Looking at less than 10 years old with some gadgets too, any suggestions greatly appreciated! |

clio 197's pop up for less than 5k now, looked at loads myself but decided against it and got an M3 instead. you can get 182's for about £2500 in decent nick, low miles, they've got most toys like leather, xenons, etc.. was gonna say a 130i bmw but they're more like 6k at the moment and high miles ________________________________________ 306 rallye reproduction decals (full sets/individual decals) | 306 b-pillar textured vinyl weatherstrips306 slam panel esso stickers | 306 yellow / orange / pension fund red side door badges gti6 inlet manifold badges | 306 rear boot badges (p2/p3) winner of Extraction of toys from prams with outstanding vigour award 2009 [source: gti6 owners club] |

Mk4 Golf 25th Anniversary model, either the 1.8T (180bhp) or the TDI (150bhp). These were only two options for Anniversary model.Still hold their money, and is the only car on my list as a next car (have also always been into my VWs). Even as standard the TDI is pokey and very torquey, but both engines can be remapped easily by a company like Revo to 200-210 for the petrol, and 180 for the TDI. Good spec on them too. Great cars. |

Thanks chaps,Clio 197 is a good shout, she might be put off the 182 as she saw me spend many an hour fixing my old one, cost me £2k in maintenance and I only had it 6 months, was just a lemon to be fair though. Golf is also a good shout but her brother has one and she's driven it quite often so she's sort of been there and done that. |

Yeah the Edition 30 is nice, that is the Mk5 model though which as you say, are nowhere near £5k money. Nice cars though. |

And I love the hot Clio Sports, but find the 197s completely uninspiring. I like the 172 Cup, 182 Trophy, and from that it would have to be a 200 Cup but that is above budget. But that's just me, she might like driving the 197. |

It needed nothing else whatsoever. Broke it last year and made money on it. They are an ideal girly car. ________________________________________ |

How reliable are the 207 GTIs? Were going to have a look at a mazda2 sport tomorrow, not that exciting but meant to be fun to drive and they get awesome MPG. |

Mazda2 worth a look BMW Still use it now. It was a joint venture between BMW and PSA and is a cracking engine but like any engine, does have a few issues. |

That's the one.the new Mini's don't use them any more, they've got so fat they're up to a 2.0 engine. the 208 uses the 1.6 thp engine still, as does the rcz, 308 etc, highest power variant is 270 bhp. ________________________________________ need a part number? get on here - http://public.servicebox.peugeot.comBring on the Trumpets. |

Audi A2? Last ones made in 2005 I think so just inside your 10 year rule. Certainly an interesting car and ideal for town. Or how about a Smart?________________________________________ Matt |
