Hi Peter I've used both a standard Valeo clutch and a helix paddle clutch and pressure plate, Standard Valeo is capable of holding the power but won't favour harsh launches. Helix will hold power easier but isn't as easy to drive and will put more stress on gearbox. I believe a compromise is a helix paddle and a Sachs pressure plate is a nicer feeling clutch. Or give pug1off a call if you want a triple plate clutch for around£1300.Helix paddle clutch and pressure plate approx£550 Helix paddle and Sachs plate £340 Personally I'd go full helix myself as you know it's fit and forget? ________________________________________ Super high boost Completed, destroyer of gearboxes and 160mph club |

Through lynx or most motor factors, just beware where you're buying from and check the pressure plate as quite often inside the boxes they are not Sachs pressure plates. ________________________________________ Super high boost Completed, destroyer of gearboxes and 160mph club |

I'd just go for the full helix, I have the Sachs pressure plate with helix paddle plate and it only took going into 6th instead of 4th in mine to make it slip like f**k and stink and it was never the same after that!________________________________________ andrew315rawson@live.co.ukMoonstone phase 7 gti6 My Project thread: http://www.306gti6.com/forum/showthread.php?id=119992&page=1 |

Ive bought my clutches off these guys.http://www.coordsport.com/index.php I rang them and dealt over the phone. I couldn't get a better price anywhere on the Helix clutches at the time. The first was a normal type cover and plate, albeit an uprated one, and then later on I bought a 184mm race clutch through them. They were far cheaper than mardi gras too. That was a year or so ago now. But id say still well worth a shout |

What's the drive ability and refinement like with the full helix compared to help paddle and Sachs cover?________________________________________ andrew315rawson@live.co.ukMoonstone phase 7 gti6 My Project thread: http://www.306gti6.com/forum/showthread.php?id=119992&page=1 |

Just a little more firm Andy, I've used both and personally for my Shb I will use a full helix paddle and cover but the highboost I had was ok on just Sachs cover and helix paddle but was far easier with the full helix setup, I gave them both hell so know there pretty good both setups ________________________________________ Super high boost Completed, destroyer of gearboxes and 160mph club |

Hi Well my clutch just let go at Croft off the start in big style the pressure plate is in bits and it's punched a hole in the diff case so I guess it's time to fork out some money and go to a full race clutch anyone suggest the best place for getting one been told to get a titon or AP unit but there so much choice and also do I go ceramic or sintered ???? Also any suggestions on where to get rose joints as the front end is trying to tear its self apart so time for new TCA !!!! ring up AP, tell them what you're using it for, they'll sell you a suitable clutch.I've seen Sandy recommends the 184mm clutches if the engines are used regularly over 7500-8000 rpm, as the pressed steel covers can't take it, have seen a few of the Combe racers with cracked pressed steel plates. ________________________________________ need a part number? get on here - http://public.servicebox.peugeot.comBring on the Trumpets. |

I had the standard sized Helix race/rally cover. The same shape as the standard 6 setup. That fell apart! Well, some strange dowel fell out of it, and bent the teeth on the flywheel and smashed the bell housing. The 184mm clutch I now use hasn't been any trouble apart from just getting the right adjustment on it. But I think that's down to the arm, as it seems better now ive changed clutch arms. |

Hawks fire I'd go ceramic with the amount of use yours will see at high revs and with standing starts ________________________________________ Super high boost Completed, destroyer of gearboxes and 160mph club |
