What sort of power would these make? I have a set of piper 285's fitted now, with solid lifters already. Should I be able to bolt these in and re shim. I already have a forged bottom end so the pockets in the Pistons are pretty large

never assume....

these run nigh on 12mm lift so you need to check at what lift your springs go coilbound, and they run 3.8mm lift @ TDC on the inlet.

even the solid profile piper 285's look mild compared to these LOL (280 degree vs 314)

I was going to say. I run pt84's in the rally car. The pt85's would be fine in a pure track car, but for something on the road also I don't think they would fare so well Tom.

On not worth the hassle then. It's only a road and sometimes track car so maybe a bit excessive for the road :-)

Devere PM me an update of your progress on your car :-)

i had these fitted in my road car, had power from 3000 till red line, running satchell bodies and it was great, i only changed them for a higher power output. but to be honest i think i should have just fitted bigger bodies cos the cat cams i used afterwards had power from 5500 till 8500. but i found them unuseable on the road as powerband too short so had to change setup again and wanted these cams back as always had power, but with remap and different inlet managed to get similar from new cams. so i was gonna use these in 2nd motor but i have 1 pug at nearly 240bhp and an audi at over 600bhp, so can only drive 1 at a time. these made great driveability, pug10ff who supplied them said the kent range was wrong that they gave great midrange and top end torque. 160 - 180lbs ft depending on your setup. and i would agree. had instant power till redline, allowed me to catch and pull alongside an astra vxr at upto 130mph. his smile was the opposite of mine though :p

ps had to sit on the bonnet to keep traction whilst on the rollers with these cams - bloody scary looking down - sure he could have added an extra strap to the car.

still bearing you in mind pete.

Tom, Pug 1 off chose these cams for there mid range, they were not top heavy at all, i had max power at 7200. i would show you the power curve but i think the printout got wet, will see if it will scan. i had piper valve springs fitted.
