Finally!!

Following my wanted thread, I got a message from Yippiekayay who put me in touch with his mate Kerry who had one he might be persuaded to part with...

Anyhow, after many a long chat, I shot over to Wales this morning and agreed a deal. I pick her up next Saturday. Kerry us a great guy who has done a lot of remedial work to the car. There is still stuff to do but it's a sound base and has plenty of potential...

I'm intended on a full concourse type rebuild but will see how we go!

Saw this a few weeks ago when we had the photo meet (see the meet sub forum for pics). Funny to think of the three rallyes mine is the only one that a hasn't changed hands! Anyway Kerry's Rallye was a real credit to him. Haven't seen red paintwork that bright on a car that old ever before. Went well as well.

We'll do an east mids mini meet mate one day once you've got it home ;-)

Yeah, I know Mik. It's had some paint and there are one or two bits that I'd consider spraying if I was aiming for perfection but it is very very good.

I'm thinking a concourse type strip and rebuild.....

The car has an awful lot of potential and I don't really want to spoil it with many mods. It's already been lowered a touch and has a Powerflow stainless exhaust system. Other than that, I don't think it needs anything else. Few bits on it I'd like to put back to new, std spec (gearknob, dash/stereo surround, boot lock surround ). Few other bits to sort and tidy but Kerry has done a great job on it so far.

Ideally I'd like to have the engine and box out, clean them up, paint and detail the engine bay while I'm at it etc....mechanically, it's absolutely solid and bang on so I think it will just be a case of strip bits, clean, repaint/plate etc and refit.

Lol.......I know he doesn't especially want to part with it but I know he wants to finish his 205 which is lovely.......he knows I'm going to look after it etc and he said that made the decision to sell a little easier. I can't wait for Saturday now!

Sounds about right mate. How long before the modifying bug gets you bad tho?! Haha.

I've got the buggy for that. How many, bog standard, straight as the day they left the factory Rallyes do you see now?

Perhaps I'm old but my perspective has changed these days. I can still appreciate a well modified car but a standard, concourse car floats my boat, big time.

It has had some paint Tony. I know Kerry has done the passenger side rear quarter while he has had it.

he also spent 3 days on a paint restoration system which came up brilliantly but showed up the quarter. His 205 was mint before he took it apart and is now another compliment to kerry looking amazing... though if you want to wind him up next weekend you could mention his gayglow orange wheels...

Like the colour of the Cyclones, IMO grey wheels really look good on red Rallyes. What is the matter with the centre console? If it is not too bad you could clean it up and repaint with matching paint.

It's been repainted, I think, or wrapped in something that has a carbon fibre type look it.....either way, it's one of the few things on the car I'm not liking......

The cyclones on the other hand are ace!

So in 24 hours time, I pick this up!!

To say this week has dragged has been an understatement in the extreme. Been buying parts for it, picked up a couple of bits including a brand new front grill for the bumper. Only because it was pretty cheap and if I want to do the concourse rebuild, I'll use it! Sorting a private plate for it this afternoon, I think you'll all like it!

Gets insured from midnight and the sale date will be 30th September so none of this faffing with tax! Then it's home as fast as I can get away with, off out to pick up some more bits for it, then spend the rest of the afternoon remembering how well these things go!

Sunday I'm aiming to hit the South Mids Meet

Carl, yes, I picked it up Saturday.

It's even more awesome than I remember my 6 being. Having sooo much fun with it at the moment....

Need to speak to you actually about fitting a clutch cable. It needs one and Kerry threw in a brand new genuine Peugeot one..... Can you drop me a PM so we can have a chat about fitting it? Have read the how to......Not feeling that brave right now!
