orta, when I got my rallye it was fitted with raceland shocks. Whilst this is obviously not empirical data they are probably the same quality going by price. They were awful mate. For that sort of money stay as is or fresh standard quality ________________________________________ China D Turbo HDi daily chargerBlack Rallye occassional toy |

The KYB Ultra SR dampers that I fitted are very good on the road - well worth a punt if you can't afford Billies...Thanks for the confirmation about the Citroen P bushes - need some now! ________________________________________ SmartyMy lil toy: http://www.flickr.com/photos/martincurtisphotography/sets/72157640014140786/ |

I personally wouldn't go lower than a 30mm drop for fast road. Ive always found eibach springs brilliant, cheapo stuff is crashy and s**te. Had Eibachs on new standard shocks and new Bilstein B8's. They were both awesome for road use, Bilsteins were obviously slightly firmer. Can't comment for track use though. As other's have said, I would definitely invest in new quality wishbones/ TRE's/ top mounts/ rear beam bushes.________________________________________ Bianca white 306 RallyeArctic blue Clio 182 FF Alpine white 205 1.9 GTI |

Don't put the low (stiff) Eibach springs on standard (or cheap eGay) dampers - the rates will be mismatched and you'll be bouncing around all over the place! This was what my car was like when I bought it. I now have B8s (as I have previously run these on a BMW) and haven't looked back on either car. The ride is firm, but bumps will not unsettle the car. Weight transfer is exceptionally well controlled. You can tell where the money goes - a spring is just a spring, but the dampers make the car.The rear beam on mine is standard save for a hybrid ARB. This does a nice job of countering the inherent understeer you will bring by stiffening the front in isolation. Together with a slightly nose-down stance to aid weight distribution (easily done with a refreshed beam and lower front springs), I have found this to make a nice balance for the road. I run the 195/50 Michelin Pilot Sport 3 due to value, which also gives you a slightly shorter final gear. I would guess going much lower than -30mm on 195/50s will see your exhaust on the deck everywhere. +1 on doing the easy / cheap bits first. Not all the parts have to be changed at once. You can use the original wishbone and just replace the consumables. I would spend more than £7 on a ball joint - a lot of load goes through it. I wanted but couldn't afford the roller bearing wishbones, instead going for Powerflex black polyurethane (track spec) front wishbone bushes. They haven't received a good rep on this forum, mainly because their lower engine mounts are s**te. So far though, the wishbone bushes have been good. I can't say how much better than OE they are, if at all, but I didn't fancy changing P-bushes every 5k miles. They are slightly harsher when running over cats' eyes etc., but no worse than the dashboard will already rattle in a 100k + mile 306. |

Nice one. Would probably be worth giving them a bit of a clean up and throwing some dust boots on there before they hit the road for winter. Mine also have external bump stops fitted, although I'm not sure if this is necessary on these.I should probably add that my bouncy experience was courtesy of some £30 Sachs dampers, and only really became noticeable when pushing on. |

I think I got mine from a local motor factor, as a kit with the dust boots. But I'm not sure. |

Was just digging through my service history on an unrelated matter. I got my bump stops from Parkers (you have one in Grantham) - part no. FIRFPK7032, listed as Berlingo Strut Protector. £22 for the whole kit. |
