Hmm did they spend a long time on a flow bench or something?

I would imagine when they were in development they did yes, by the time Longman retired I imagine he (or whoever did them) could do them with there eyes closed but that didn't stop Longman charging BTCC prices for them.

Porting seems to be a strange thing, some people claim it takes days sitting at a flow bench and charge £k's, others do it by sight for a few hundred quid and there doesn't appear to be a noticeable difference in the finished product. I guess it depends a lot on how 'perfect' and equally matched you want each port to be. Think it's safe to say with this been a BTCC head it would be the latter...

Not sure is the honest answer. The valves it used are G+S valves, listed for a 405 MI16 here-

http://www.gsvalves.co.uk/assets/recmastervalvecatalogue.pdf

They are about £270 for an engine set which isn't bad at all. They are 0.5mm oversize so not much bigger than standard valves. I would personally say standard valves would be ok as long as they are cut to match the seats but wouldn't guarantee it... The stem size is standard.

Mi16 valve stems are bigger than a gti6, inlet valves are larger but exhaust valves smaller than gti6.

Ah well, that's what they are listed as, dunno what they are, probably first used in the 405 supertourers or something... stem sizes are definitely standard.

The one listed above did sell but I have recently listed an identical one with similar damage. Search eBay and you'll find it.
