My GTI6 has started to running hot when standing still on tickover, the needle getting close to the redline before one of the fans kicking in. When driving, the temp only reach 70-80 deg at the gauge. But the temp goes quickly up to hot when driving in slow traffic. |

Pull the brown plug from the thermostat housing ? This will cause the fans to kick in ? This will show if both fans are functioning ? You can bridge the ac loom plug so as to use the ac button to activate the fans ? Bitron unit behind passenger arch liner is the usuall problem to fans not working |

Bitron unit behind inner wheel arch passenger side is my bet ? Also check loom plug to fan housing for corrosion |
