What Peugeot dealers are you going to mate? I used Robin's & Day on Minerva Street, their parts department know their stuff and generally hold a good stock of consumables for the 306, and if not they can normally get a hold of them quite quickly. As for wishing the steering wheel was a bit closer, I'd recommend getting a dished steering wheel with a boss to suit. Really makes a difference ________________________________________ '98 Nile Blue 306 GTi 6 |

It's pretty handy for me as I'm in Anniesland. Need to pick up lower hose this week. Also need to order all the screws, brackets, etc that I'm mangling. I've removed the condenser, radiator and dryer. Got stripped heads on the brackets holding on the lower ac pipes. So need to get them off. Probably use a chisel! I have new lower ac pipes. But might take them to pirtek to rubber versions made. I'll get round to the steering wheel in due course. But thank you for heads up MisterGTR has attached the following image: ________________________________________ Turned 40 and in true cliched fashion buying one of the cars of my teenage dreams! |

My radiator has seen better days. Amazing amount of crap in back there too. Including cigarette butts. One of the fun things is all the rust dropping into my eyes while working. Found a good image resizer so can post photos here now MisterGTR has attached the following image: ________________________________________ Turned 40 and in true cliched fashion buying one of the cars of my teenage dreams! |

Okay so i finally removed the bit of the air con pipe held in by the spring clip. I'm wonder whether it was actually held in at all, because i hadn't actually removed it from the rubber bung next to the radiator and when i did that it came out no problem! Doh! Hence i'm changing my avatar profile. It's been a while since i had the chance to work on the car so i'm hoping i remember where i put all teh bits! Anyway, all good. Got new screws to put the new ac pipes in place. I dremmelled the old ones out! I broke the white plastic bit that holds the fuel pipes to the engine bay next to the strut (so ordered that this morning) and hopefully i have all the bits i need to put the car back together on Wed! (need to get some coolant) I'm then expecting the ac leak like a mofo so will take to Halfords for recharging. I change the air filter for a K&N and i'll change the spark plugs once i've got her running again. After that i will probably take her for a long drive so i can change the gear box oil and then figure out what bits i need to tighten up the chassis. I keep flicking between B12 kit and polybushes all about once (with a garage doing the rear end) or doing it bit by bit in terms of putting new standard bushes in and the all the other wobbly bits. The issue i have is it's starting to get cold so working on the car is becoming less attractive to sitting in a warm pub! Also on the look out for 16" wheels. I'll keep the 15" cyclones for track days as they currently have mismatched tyres and when they are done getting 15" tyres will be cheaper. What do you guys think about these? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/16-oz-ultraleggera-alloy-wheels-citroen-peugeot-4x108-pcd-/321549286662?ssPageName=ADME:B:BODO:UK:1 I used to run Superleggeras on my S3 years ago and like them lots. More to come soon i hope! ________________________________________ Turned 40 and in true cliched fashion buying one of the cars of my teenage dreams! |

So i took a day off work today to get the car back on 4 wheels.First issue. The bottom AC pipe has a different bracket (see photo) and so i had to spend an hour hunting down 2 suitable screws. Finally got that sorted. MisterGTR has attached the following image: ________________________________________ Turned 40 and in true cliched fashion buying one of the cars of my teenage dreams! |

Okay so spoke to seller of Nissen rad this morning. He called me up. Was very pleasant. Amazing how much difference good customer service makes. I sent him photos - he spoke to Nissen and called me back He said the bend was designed as per diagram (see below). He said the broken fins won't make a huge difference. He offered me a replacement but said it would be pretty much the same depending on how the couriers handled it. So wish me luck it's all going back together this weekend! Went ahead and bought those OZ wheels above. I had Oz Superleggeras on my Audi S3 that i was my first decent car about 10 years ago. So heart over head. Bit bizarre because i called up and spoke to the guy on the phone a couple of days ago. Agreed a price, and he said he'd send me a paypal invoice (to avoid ebay fees) and nothing. I had a mate email him last night and he was still trying to punt them. So i ended up just buying them through ebay. Better for me i guess as if they're bent or damaged i can send them back. What's even more bizarre is that now his seller info has come up having down the deal through ebay is that he's a proper garage. http://www.garagesdorset.co.uk/contact-us/ I don't get why he just didn't take payment over the phone when i spoke to him! Ah well, anyone want a set of 205 50 16's? Or should i just run them? Also i guess i'll need some bolts and locking nuts? ________________________________________ Turned 40 and in true cliched fashion buying one of the cars of my teenage dreams! |

Back to wanting to set the car on fire. Spent an hour trying to fit the new radiator. And it just won't fit past the engine. Don't get how it came out if it won't go back. I'm pulled the slam panel as far as I can. Doing this hungover is a very bad idea. Will try and get the kid from my street to help out later in week. Also just read I should have kept a thermostat from old radiator! Argggghhhh. Time to give up for today. Shame as really nice weather and was looking forward to a drive. Think I'm becoming one of those people who have a car in pieces in their drive and never get it back together!! Like an idiot and because of the OH moaning I binned the old radiator and didn't remove the cap! I guess I'll have to modify the slam panel? Or just buy another rad cap? ________________________________________ Turned 40 and in true cliched fashion buying one of the cars of my teenage dreams! |

Car is alive!! Not sure where to run the wee pipe from the rad cap. But big thanks to Luke for his help. His suggestion to unclip the radiator and pull it forward, worked a treat. Now sitting in kwik fit waiting to see if the air con takes a charge. More nervous than I was waiting for exam results!! ________________________________________ Turned 40 and in true cliched fashion buying one of the cars of my teenage dreams! |

Fail. As this pipe just won't seat. Lost quite a bit of skin levering it in but still pulls out easily. I'm guessing it's a spring clip housing. May take to air con specialist or pug to ask for help. But at least she's running again. Knocking on full right only issue. Hopefully only due to loose under tray bits I've still to put back properly.
