I've been looking for a standard white rally for ages now and this popped up on ebay:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PEUGEOT-306-RALLYE-306-GTI-6-VERY-CLEAN-CAR-TAX-AND-MOT-106-205-RALLY-/111382834490?&_trksid=p2056016.l4276

I phoned the seller who was pretty helpful but he's not a member of the forum. I'm hoping someone on here will recognise the car and be able to shed a bit more on it's history?

Many Thanks,
James

I wouldn't put all your eggs in one basket by only purchasing from a forum member.

A. The forum now only consists of 26 active members, 18 of whom don't own a GTi6 or Rallye - so you will be limiting your search greatly.

B. Because you are a member on an owners club, it doesn't mean you will look after a car any better than someone who has too much time for the internet.

C. 177,000 miles.

177,000 miles

    Thanks for the advice.

Any other recommendations where I should look (I'm keeping an eye on Ebay, Gumtree and this forum mainly)?

177k isn't ideal for sure and I take your point on non-forum enthusiasts onboard.

It has 11 owners too which again isn't ideal, but before I rule it out I was wondering if anyone knew the car.

Add Pistonheads to your search list. Autotrader wouldn't be a bad idea either tbh.

I notice from your other thread that you are limiting yourself to that specific colour, so you will have to keep on looking until you get lucky which could take a while.

Are you an exisiting GTi6/Rallye owner? Is there a reason why you want a Rallye over a GTi6?

11 owners and 177,000 miles does more or less mean you are going to be burried with it.

Always hankered irrationally after a white 306 rallye - I can't reason with it, it must be bought at some point! ;-)

Thanks for all the tips guys.

Paint match on the front bumper doesn't look too clever.

rallye blanks painted white so probably had a new front bumper at some point, but then again what 15yr old car hasn't?

Lets face it, if you bought a new 208 gti, you would lose 1500 quid in depreciation pretty quickly. Buy it if it fits your criteria and enjoy the junk.

If you Avoid buying a car they stopped selling over ten years ago because it's had some bodywork done then I'm afraid you may be waiting a long long time for it
