Hi does anyone on the forum offer any services for shot peening and cryo'ing? I've found a place but they will only do it for a bare gearset. I don't know anything about taking apart a gearbox. Rough cost would be appriciated?

They state that it increases strength upto 30%

Mate use a standard box use the money from not getting gears treated to buy spare boxes when you break them Smile which you will most definitely I can tell you that from experience

The gears need to be new to work. Otherwise fairly pointless

Er nope we deal with a company that shot peen all sorts of things in the aviation world and they are not new ?

Thats what we've been told by the company doing our stuff - Its not as effective on old parts.
Tbh it was a waste of time as the car annihilated 5th gear anyway... Thumbs up

I know Ash paid a fair bit of cash and got his done properly for his race car and it still just blew to pieces, only difference it made was making him poorer.

Yeah it was fine with 800lbft going through it at 1.15bar, turning it up to 1.6bar did the damage Smile
