Hey all,

My gearbox is getting a bit whiney from cold so i've decided to get some new oil and see how it goes, I figured this might be good for you lot as i thought the price was very cheap!

18 quid delivered for three bottles... (If you are as anal as me and are putting in 2.1)

You'll probably struggle to get 2.1 litres in though (assuming you actually remove the level plug and fill until it begins to run out, opposed to bunging your pre measured 2.1L in the top and being done with it).

I imagine you'll get to near enough the end of the second bottle with a swig left.

If you leave it long enough, 2litres will probably start to trickle from the level check hole. Always has for me.

As mentioned they're selling on ebay too, greater discount if you buy multiples, in Swansea iirc, so might get a mate to pop in and blag more discount Razz

I fear however that simply changing the oil will not help at all in this case, its likely to be worn diff bearings or input shaft bearings.

Also, could just be the release bearing.

Thats my suspicion too sadly, but we'll see how it goes.
I guess with all of the abouve (exept a release bearing) its probably just time to get a new box?

given they're all going to be abused and 15 years old at a minimum, rebuild would be better.

Top tip if you don't already is to heat the oil up before filling with a fan heater or something. Makes it miles easier to pour in and it settles to a level much quicker too! Same with draining it, drain it whilst its nice and hot and it'll empty much quicker.
