What is the best oil to use on a supercharged 6 running standard power?

I dont want to fork out for royal purple or anything like that, just want to know if there is a decent alternative i can get from my main dealers (he gives me oil from their drums so get it at a very good price)

Am on a real budget atm thats why im asking, thanks.

P.s. it is an engine from rich and has uprated bearings if that makes any difference?

What you mean by standard power? Low boost?

I think its only the high boost they use royal purple on.

If you can afford it then Royal Purple all the way but yes on a normal budget you can use other stuff on a low boost.

Silkolene PRO S 10W-50 will do the job from what i have read/heard, certainly for a low boost Smile

We use and recommend Royal Purple on all SC engines - you don't have to use it, but it's proven itself to us numerous times, which is why we don't use anything else Smile

Exactly this - my current engine has only done a mere 12,000 miles and yet all of them (bar the first 1,000 running in) have been either extreme fast road, hill climbing or trackday miles.

It's never missed a beat, I change the oil every 2,000 miles when the car is in use, which it isn't at the moment.

Is 2000 miles not a little excessive?
It's fully synthetic that royal purple, do you really think there's any point in a £120 oil change every 2000 miles?

My dad always says "Oil's the cheapest mechanic" and I'm sure he got that off someone even older than him.

My car uses the standard 10/40 and it's been fine for the 10000 miles covered, that's high boost.
