very late 1999 V reg gti6, coventry registered
Nile blue
everything is Phase 3, apart from side strips and the orange indicators. weird car
130k, full service history from new, 3 previous owners, fairly recent cambelt etc
shagged rear beam and in need of a few service parts so I drove the seller down from his £800 asking price to £650 which I was happy paying as the apart from a small dent on the wing (which I have since pushed out) the bodywork is almost immaculate
got it back to my workshop and began to get it to my usual standard before putting it on the road.
First things first, what gti would be complete without red brake calipers
had some 16" direct fit team dynamics knocking about so of course they went on there
then my usual rear dewiper and a subtle debadge
then onto the ramp to sack off the knackered beam, rust proof, underseal then fit new beam along with baker bm solid mounts, new brake hoses, new shocks, refurbed heatshields, new discs and mintex pads
all fitted
moved onto the front then:
for some reason the gti splitter was missing, just happened to have one in my parts stash so that was fitted
started hoarding service parts, usual stuff like total 5w40, total gear oil, new wishbones, all filters, track rods and ends, new ngk sparkplugs as I guessed they hadn't been changed for a while and were probably wrong anyway ( I was right) fuel filter, mintex pads, discs, droplinks, struts, springs, brake hoses, topmounts and bearings.... probably more stuff ive replaced and forgotten about haha
The exhaust was the original item and incredibly rotten, the last 4 mot's had blowing exhaust as an advisory, so that was sacked off and replaced with a magnex
Fitted all my service parts and changed the fluids:
that's the gear oil that came out haha
Fitted new struts, mounts, wishbones, track rod ends and droplinks
picked up some ph1 gti6 seats to replace the awful ph3 items
also picked up a rallye aux setup to ditch my broken aircon plus some spares to get powderccoated :p
engine before:
engine after a quick clean, amazing how much dust gets in there
and thats about as far as ive got so far, will be fitting my interior bits over next week and seeing about getting the bumper scuffs repainted, also some blackmasks and cutom badges somewhere down the line leading upto fcs
