so iv recently fitted a second hand charger kit that had done very little before but alot of it was semi built.

now..... for the first few mins after start up the its got a right squeel on it. iv found that its the pulley on the charger. is it jist a case of the pulley being to tight or is it somthimg bigger?

mine squeaks now and then on startup too eh - not so much of recent

iv replaced my pulley and auto tensioner bearings a few times over the years
once i had one collapse made quiet a mess - (it was the auto tensioner one that failed)
i have access to machine press at work though
surely a machine shop of some sort could do it? need to be pretty straight and precise

not sure about tightness to be fair RichW would be the man to ask
and possibly point you to new bearings they dont cost much iirc

edit : i think the "newer style pulleys" might be a different setup, think they are easier to change bearings but i could be talking poop, i have my Friday head on Cheers

Power steering fluid on the aux belt most probably. Its a effing nightmare.

I took the belt off, degreased the pullies etc and put on a new belt. Still does it every now and then.

its a used belt. but the kit had only done 80miles since new (so say) and the belt looked pretty new.

if i spray down the back of the charger pulley (3in1 oil through the straw) small amount directly to the bearing area it instantly stops ?

Mine has squealed when cold slightly since I've had it, the main reason is the Ally crank pully needs an edge turning down slightly. It made brand new belts noisy before it was charged as well as after.

I had this before with the alloy pulley. The vee belt was being driven on the top of the pulley not on the vee's. I stuck it on the lathe and removed 0.5mm off the OD and it has been fine since.
