Hi guys, heres my dilema. A mate of mine recently had a set of German style pressed plates for his Audi and they look the dogs, they have 2 'licience' stickers in the middle of the plares which i think look really good. Would i look a total cock fitting German plates to me little French beauty? I can put a Euro F or GB in a blue square on them, the French style look a bit plain to be honest. I'll try and get a piccy up.

Cheers

It's one day your minding your own business, those plates are fitted and you get pulled for no reason other than the plates, you may have done nothing wrong other than the plates but why would you need the hassle? On the other hand you could have had a skin full the night before and because of some different plates it can cause you a world of pain. Dunno

That's my moto anyway, who wants to grab unwanted attention.

Exactly why I chose not to fit them, knowing my luck I'll have scrubbed a tyre and will be illegal. Why risk getting hounded for no reason.

You can still go pressed metal which look tidy, just with a standard setup

I think they look cool on a German car. As said, it will grab attention from the po-po. They are tightening rules on plates these days so probly not worth the hastle. Even pressed plates will have to have the special stamp at the bottom to be legal.

I wasn't having a dig at you. I've just secured R1 KKY after buying a SILVER, 2011 NISSAN MICRA ACENTA 5 DOOR HATCHBACK. Awesome car.

I had metal pressed plates, but they were standard font, spacing and colour.

It doesn't mention the material you need only that it is RetroReflective 'material'.

As long as they have genuine BS approval then you will be OK. Unless you want to argue the toss about reflective coating on metal to be considered a 'material' or not which is really something that could be debated to death.

The point is as long as you aren't a complete dick, don't buy European plates and don't try and use them in the UK then the police wont bother you.
