Quick question, we had to cut this coolant pipe while taking the head off as the clips were destroyed and wouldn't open. On the spare car, it was blanked off and the thermostat didn't have any holes accepting it. What's it for / do I need it?To the right of the block, near the earth cable you can see the cut pipe: ________________________________________ Rallye Race Car |

Is that the tiny little one that goes from the metal pipe along the back of the block to the thermostat housing? Iirc its to recirculate water before the thermostat has opened. |

Yup, that's the one. Annoying thing as there wasn't enough space on it to move clips around so we just cut it off.If that's its use, probably worth keeping then. Only way you can cap it off is if you don't run a thermostat I guess. ________________________________________ Rallye Race Car |

Yeah they are a bas**rd. Easiest way to remove it is to remove the bolt holding that end of the pipe to the block and then you will get enough movement to pull that pipe off. I would open the clips with some mulgrips and then release the rubber pipe with a flat head screwdriver (they normally stick to the pipe) |

Appreciated. Easy enough to do now the head is off, was just a pain with everything in place. Don't happen to know the size? Will order some new pipe to create a new one, no point paying Peugeot for the part!________________________________________ Rallye Race Car |

plenty of space to move the clips, especially if you slacken the 13mm bolts securing the metal pipe to the back of the block.pug/citroen only, less than a fiver. you can't cap it as the heater matrix is fed from that metal pipe due to the exhaust manifold, J4R engines dont have the metal pipe as they have a cast manifold and fed from the rear water takeoff housing and have a single takeoff on the back of the thermostat housing. nothing to do with the thermostat itself. ________________________________________ need a part number? get on here - http://public.servicebox.peugeot.comBring on the Trumpets. |

I believe it's 1/2 inch diameter.Years ago, I used to keep a metre of it and cut small pieces off to size when doing heads. It was such a pain to remove the pipe, was much quicker to cut it and then fit a new length. For the price though, you may as well buy one from Pug. ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

Thanks guys, appreciated.Getting the part from pug is a pain as there isn't one near me which I why I was just going to order new pipe and cut it down. If I were to blank off the heater matrix, I could then cap it? Going to remove it at some point anyway. ________________________________________ Rallye Race Car |

Pipe 5 in the diagram? Plan is to remove the matrix and fit an electrically heated front windscreen, weight saving and all that. demondriverdan has attached the following image: ________________________________________ Rallye Race Car |
