I'll check the wiring, probably the least of my worries, try c whats up with the engine, would the worst case scenario be that it needs a new cylinder head or would the bottom end be f**ked aswell

Well people who have had belts snap and fitted a new head (if they can get away with it) normally never have any more troubles but i have heard a few rumours of bottom ends going a while after the belt snap. Why i don't know but there must be a relation there somewhere. If it turns out it is a tapper, id be tempted to have the pistons out whilst the head is off, fit new rings and new big and main bearings.

What vehicle did the engin come from ? Later Gtis don't have have oil pres senders ? Ask your mechanic if he checked the timing before he changed the belt ? It's very easy to get it all wrong if the crank pulley is no good ? Or you rotate a cam in error to get it timed up ?

What cam belt kit did you use ? 136 or 137 tooth belt kit ?

That isn't a valve 'tapper'.

It definitely has bottom end problems though. Yes

Either way tappers, bent valves or bottom end, it's goon to cost a heap of money to fix, which I dont have, time to cut my losses I think

May not be a huge amount. I had a big end go a few weeks back and caught it just in time to just need a very light polish on the crank and some new big ends. With oil and a filter, cost me £70. Of course you need to get the crank and rods checked as well.

Engines not that easy to come by here, have to try find one online and take the risk its running good. Theres a lot to be said for seeing and hearing an engine rather than buying online.

I'll have to see what my mechanic says when he looks at it, £70 fix I would be delighted, doubtful though. Hard to trust my mechanic now 2 when he could have caused the problem in the first place with the timing

Looks like it's the tappets after all and get her timed up properly, hopefully will do the trick. Where would the best place be to get a set of tappets.

I'd be surprised if it was the tappets. Don't normally become a problem on these engines.

Sounds like big end if it's increasing with revs, same problem I had on the race car.
