I was wondering what the little plastic pipe that sucks air into the engine is called.
it is located just behind the holder for the accelerater cable, near the starter motor
When I cover it with my finger it cuts the engine out. I put a little vent filter on it cause I thought if its sucking in air I need some kind of filter on it.
but can someone please tell me what its called and what it does cheers.

sorry if it doesnt make sense or spelling

Possibly, but check for other air leaks and possibly clean the throttle body and idle control valve out as they're known to cause problems

Possibly, either that or the ICV is going dodgy.
If you've run it without a filter for a while the ICV might just be really dirty in which case you should try cleaning it first. There is a guide in the FAQ section.

That'll work but avoid spraying it right down inside it, and re-soften the o-rings with WD40 or something.
