T1r have s**t walls and like to roll.Yoko a048 and toyo r888 are s**t hot but soft so won't do many miles. Ps3 are a good choice. OK, lets just put this into perspective.Contrary to what the above posters are trying to point out, SOFT SIDEWALLS actually allow the rubber at the road face to work as intended, at its given temperature threshold. I have tried many road tyres and I am very very happy with the T1rs in both the dry and the wet... Progressive and balanced and 42 quid each Lets get a road test comparison situation going to help and aid fellow club members into their tyre choices? # |

The pe2's I got 30k from. I turned them from front to back when the front were 3/4 worn. So all in, they were £20 per tire more but lasted much much longer and grip on the pe2's was in a different league. So my conclusion is that the T1R's are w**k and out classed in every way by the michilins. ________________________________________ See the sheer power and might of the lesser known burrowing owl. |

T1R's dot seem to bad till you try something better..... Ignorance is bliss.However I've driven evos and supras with them on and they were absolutely lethal..... Never had any on my own car. I used to like the T1S When they did that I found tem ok in the wet and on a hot sunny day they stuck like s**t to a blanket. Didn't last long though as they were so soft. PS3 all day long. P zero are a very good tyre but not as good in the wet as the michelins. And as Aaron says michelins are renowned for their longevity. And if a sidewall is to hard it can ruin the handling of the car as well I've found this out in the past. I've heard good things about A048's but they don't last 5 mins. ________________________________________ Black power baby! Just like Armz, the T1Rs seemed great until i got a set of almost on the limit Eagle F1s. Absolutely destroyed them so went up to PS3s and now it would take some serious persuasion to change my choice of tyre. I had 4 T1Rs from new and when new, they were very grippy but that soon started to disappear and i think they hit the 2mm marker on the front after 7k. Not overly impressed by that at all and when they were getting close to that, they were probably as good as the original P6000! Ive only done 3k on my PS3s and they still look like brand new and they are just fantastic. Id say the wet grip is almost as good as dry grip and that really is saying something especially for what is classed as a summer tyre. Only criticism with them is i had a slight bit of extra road noise but i can't hear that now with that silly whine constantly on the go ![]() IMO, they are no more expensive than T1Rs either. I had PS2s on my old Saab and when i sold that, they still had 6mm of tread and i had done about 15k with them. If the PS3s wear the same, i could get through 2 maybe even 3 sets of T1Rs in the life of the PS3. No brainer really for better road holding and most importantly, safety! |

The dunlops are available in most sizes mate. They are a decent tyre. But at over £150 MORE than the AD08's per set they are hardly as cost effective ![]() I've heard good things about Federal 595's. They aint summer tires though are they. They are all fast road/ track tires. The best summer road tires will be something like the ps3's or p zero or similar.________________________________________ See the sheer power and might of the lesser known burrowing owl. |

As Niall says wet grip would almost fool you into thinking its dry... There a bit too good lol. My 6 was scary as f**k in the wet and couldn't put your foot down at all without massive wheel spin and torque steer. Now with PS3's it's a completely different car. I don't think they will wear quite as well as the PE2's did those are rediculous for longevity ________________________________________ Black power baby! Like armsz16, I used to like the T1-S and I never felt the "improved" T1-R that succeeded it was as good. I agree that the T1-R actually seemed OK until you try something decent. For a cheap track tyre in 50-profile the Toyos make a lot of sense. But for road use there are plenty of better options. I wanted a decent road tyre and did a lot of research as I wanted something decent. But I wanted to stay with the OE 55-profile after Michelin PE2s became NLA, so I ended up with the Dunlops which I find are way better than the Toyos, and maybe £10 - £20 more per tyre in the (more expen$$ive) 195/55-15 size. As above I've got the Dunlop SP Sport Fast Response on the Rallye and they perform well, they do make the steering a little heavier as they are quite sticky - I also found this putting them on the wife's Focus. Someone else on here has tried out the BluResponse which has had excellent reviews but were not yet available when I got mine last year. They must be OK as Dunlops were OE fitment on all marks of the Supermarine Spitfire - the WW2 fighter that defended Britain against the dastardly Hun, not the 1970s Triumph sports car, (while strictly not relevant to your question, I think it's way cool anyway). ________________________________________ Cherry Rallye SOLD |

Just FYI, PS3s which replaced PE2s (sort of anyway!) are now readily available in 55/15 apparently ![]() The dunlops were my second choice if i couldnt get my PS3s which at the time, i was really struggling with. Im told they are very good! |

I've fitted many sets of blueresponse the ratings are awesome. Think their A rated wet C rated fuel economy and 67db or something like that. My only criticisms are they are sticky as you say but I think they have done that to get the wet grip up and made the tyre soft so I don't think they will last long. Sidewalls are pretty sloppy Also they are pretty much Eco tyres and as with all Eco tyres they taper off the tread on the outside edges to reduce rolling resistance so you get much less usable surface area and the edges of the tyres wear out in 5 minutes. PS3's in 55 you say? Will have a look later see what sort of price they are. ________________________________________ Black power baby!
