I find that when cold, moving out of 2nd, 3rd and 4th (and reverse) can require a little bit of a push and gives a bit of a squeak.

It goes into every gear fine, and when nice and warm is fine. Its just when cold that the problem occurs. I have installed the upgraded miles linkages but it has not helped this particular issue (everything else about the gear change is much better though).

I have read that shortening the long linkage helps get it into these gears. Is it likely to help getting out of them?

Thanks

It's had new gearbox oil about 1000 miles ago, so it shouldn't be that.

What grade oil?
If it's affected by temperature it's pointing towards an oil issue, some boxes can be a bit clunky when cold mind.
Worn or bent selectors also make it difficult to get out of gear

I forget exactly what oil it was. I will check when I get home.

It is the Castrol gearbox oil supposed to be designed for notchy gearboxes. I gave it a go as it worked wonders on my TVR's gearbox. Possible that it was a mistake then.

There's no specific need for peugeot oil just make sure it's the correct grade, 75w80

Brand new clutch, so I hope not! Happily its warrantied...

I will double check the oil grade, and if its wrong, I shall perform a quick swap.

Agreed, for some reason other brand 75w80 oils just don't seem to perform nearly as well. No

Redline MTF worked pretty well in my MA 'box, although I'm trying something now which is much better cold that either of them, but I ain't recommending it until I've got a few k's on it to check for wear and get a UOA done on it.

Small update, and check to see if anyone else can help.

I tried an oil swap to the correct Peugeot gearbox oil, and sadly it has just made the problem worse - which is annoying as I didn't think to save the Castrol stuff. Complete waste of money!

Is there anything else that I can try, otherwise I'll just put the Castrol Syntrans 75w-90 back in I think. It's been the best so far.
