Am thinking on changing my piston rings given the engine is in bits after a small incident involving a puddle...

Searched through the forum and came across Goetze rings being mentioned as good quality (cheaper) replacements to the original Peugeot ones...any thoughts? Dunno

The ones available are listed for Vauxhall Red-Top engines but understand this is the same as the XU10J4RS engine

Goetze Piston Rings

Thanks in advance Thumbs up

I've used these on my rebuilt track engine. The engine is yet to run in anger but they were recommended to me by Rich E who I believed has used them without problem in his engine. Either way I know goetz are a decent quality make and the vauxhall ones I used are the same dimensions as the pug items, personally I'd just use them! Thumbs up

cant remember the name on the box of the ones i fitted
but i did have a choice of sizes
so couldnt order till i removed the pistons to measure the ring width
options were

1.5/1.5/3.0 £64.95
1.5/1.75/3.0 £55.00

and they turned out to be the dearer ones

blue and white box if i remember

I also used these on my engine, much cheaper.

The oil scraper ring is of a different design then the original one (two rings and a expander instead of one ring) but they fit very well.

Use good piston ring pliers because these rings break very easily.
