Handbrake mech is the pain in the arse bit by the looks But saying that I've just stripped and rebuilt the Sierra rear calipers for my kit car which alot of people say are a pain to strip and rebuild and I found it pretty easy Got the rebuild kits from http://biggred.co.uk/ Finished product below after stripping/shot blasting/soaking in DEOX-C/painted with Rust Bullet/top coat of Rust Oleum. So it is do-able if your handy with spanners ________________________________________ Red GTB1756 powered Fabia VRS daily driver,LBSC Gti6 eater........Mac1 ZR R1 kit car build in progress. |

LOL no you don't, the above pic is tools that you use to wind the piston in but you can just use a large screwdriver shaft/allen key/flat bar etc...As above the pain in the arse part is rebuilding the handbrake lever and shim mechanism the rest is simples!! |

Tbh even thats not that difficult if you can find something to press down on the shims but thats the worst bit. Rest of it is easy. |

finally dismantled all my rear calipers last night ready for rebuild with my new seals kitsimple mechanism for the rear handbrake really - a keyed cam with a tapered metal insert which sits in a track on the handbrake lever. then 5 dished washers and a flat washer which force the piston out. will attempt to rebuild them later on. heard a lot of people say the concave washers are a ballache and basically to not bother attempting it but am sure i can make some tools to do it or alter my valve spring compressor to help. can't be that hard, right?! ________________________________________ 306 rallye reproduction decals (full sets/individual decals) | 306 b-pillar textured vinyl weatherstrips306 slam panel esso stickers | 306 yellow / orange / pension fund red side door badges gti6 inlet manifold badges | 306 rear boot badges (p2/p3) winner of Extraction of toys from prams with outstanding vigour award 2009 [source: gti6 owners club] |

took me less than 8 mins to do both sides using a custom tool* i made and a pair of valve spring compressors. honestly don't know why people struggle when you can be innovative and make tools to help you out* 21mm spark plug socket with 4 of the 6 sides cut away to make a prong to compress the concave shims will post some photos when i've done all the seals and rebuilt properly ________________________________________ 306 rallye reproduction decals (full sets/individual decals) | 306 b-pillar textured vinyl weatherstrips306 slam panel esso stickers | 306 yellow / orange / pension fund red side door badges gti6 inlet manifold badges | 306 rear boot badges (p2/p3) winner of Extraction of toys from prams with outstanding vigour award 2009 [source: gti6 owners club] |

I think I did mine in a vice and a deep socket as a press tool. Like Rikky says it's easy enough to come up with a working solution.________________________________________ R H Davey Welding Supplies. I sell new and used welding equipment in the Hampshire area.
