I've been getting an oil patch on my drive, at first I thought it might be my pas fluid as that was nearly empty. I noticed today that while reversing to park there were several oil patches from where I stopped to where I parked. Could my gearbox be on its way oit? any help would be appreciated. Thanks. |

What colour was the oil? could be anything from anywhere lol, can get engine oil leaks from a lot of places, power steering rams are common for leaking and leaving small puddles when sat for a while and driveshaft seals are common from gearboxes.________________________________________ Black power baby! Does the oil smell completely awful? If so, it's gearbox oil. If not, then it'll either be engine oil or PAS fluid. ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

Get a large section of carboard under the front to easily pinpoint the colour, make it easier for you to smell and locate.________________________________________ |

A lot of people have done away with the cooling pipe and not noticed any negative effects.________________________________________ |

Yeah i'm going to remove it and join the two hoses up, got to wait till next month though as i've just bought a load of new parts to fit this month and can't afford to do that aswell! Was planning on restoring the car over a few years but everything's starting to go at once! Typical! |

Its an old Peugeot, everything goes at once....continuously, they are more of a hobby than a mode of transport. ________________________________________ '90 1.6 205 GTi, '98 306 GTi-6 |

I can't remember exactly but I'm sure you can do this for free, at the worse you need a tiny length of hose. ________________________________________ andrew315rawson@live.co.ukMoonstone phase 7 gti6 My Project thread: http://www.306gti6.com/forum/showthread.php?id=119992&page=1 |

I've got a new steering rack, pipes and reservoir to put in though, thought it would be easier to do it then? |
