Im running cams and after market ecu which was mapped whilst in the hands of previous owner. But rev limit is standard. Do i have to have the car with a guy running it on a rolling road to change it or is that not the case?________________________________________ Silver 6 |

i bought a brand new ecu chip off of ebay for both my 1.4 and the gti - 6, you can specify your rev limit to him and he will set it up for you. the harder thing is cracking open your ecu and replacing said chipthe 1.4 raised the rev limit, it went to 7500 instead of 6000 which was fun and gti-6 one being a phase one was already at 7500rpm so i left as is. he claims bhp increase as this map is taken from a lightly modified gti6 (induction + decat) which had showed an increase of around 5bhp and a better power curve when said map was in it. cost 50quid and i honestly couldnt notice the difference. might of if i had put it on a rolling road. but feelingwise was a dud really saying that.....i found it a nightmare to get anyone to do a rolling remap for a nie on standard gti6 in england, so it may be your best option ________________________________________ the world is changed by people in sheds |

If the engine is otherwise standard I would leave it. They can get valve float over 7k and start splattering valves________________________________________ Nothing to see here |

Don't take it higher with standard lifters, it'll just end in tears, oil, metal and petrol________________________________________ 205 GTi Red - G939 RTU - Died!306 GTi 6 Diablo - Being resurrected! Project Thread Looking for: VTS P1 Rack PR1.2 16" |

Does it? I worry about it with a standard engine, let alone something with as much work as yours. How cone you still run standard not solid?________________________________________ 205 GTi Red - G939 RTU - Died!306 GTi 6 Diablo - Being resurrected! What cams and is it a standard piston? The clearances are tight enough at the best of times. More revs normally and to more problems unless you retard the timing which isn't ideal for more power________________________________________ 205 GTi Red - G939 RTU - Died!306 GTi 6 Diablo - Being resurrected!
