Iv'e been running my 6 on this for the last week and tbh its never ran worse! feels very flat and hesitant, i thought that after the ecu had adapted to this, the engine would have pulled a wee bit better but as i say its worse than what it was before. I have done approx 400 miles, getting fuel from various places so it's not like it's dodgy petrol. I have recently replaced the Lambda, injectors and new air filter to replace the manky old oily one, car was running great then i thought i would start running on V power.Anyone else suffered from same or similar? |

Have you tried resetting the ECU during this fuel change? ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

Stan, i did that just before i first filled up then about 175 miles ago, no difference, should have said i have also replaced coolant temp sensor as well...Annoying, because the car was running so well before and that was on crap fuel |

best way i can describe it is, if i accelerate fairly hard it begins to go then just bogs down, felt exactly how my old Mi16 did when it was running massively rich - boggy low down but after 6k it pulls ok |

I had issues on Nitro + on a couple of fills then it ran smooth. I raised the issue with Shell and they 'investigated' the fuel quality as the garage I used and came back with nothing. I went from V Power to Nitro + and noticed how much worse it was the second I pulled away from the garage. ________________________________________ Cherry Rallye '99 - Sold |

To be fair I tried another Shell garage and so far every fill has been fine. This happened to me when Nitro first came out and has been fine since. ________________________________________ Cherry Rallye '99 - Sold |

I should also add that if i leave it ticking over for afew minutes, i can see puffs of black smoke from the exhaust which would certainly back up my thoughts of it running rich. I just can't see how a change in fuel can cause such a problem |

Its higher octane fuel wouldn't bother unless in a supercharged 306 or very high performance one, |

Higher octane fuel in a 'performance' hatch will always improve things, even if it only allows it to run better, clearly not in my case though. i'm going to do another reset then go for a decent drive, hopfully third time lucky |

Have you got the correct coolant temp sensor? If the ECU is incorrectly reading the coolant temperature this may cause the air fuel ratio to be affected. I don't think changing fuel will cause this issue. |

I've always run Shell Optimax, then Shell V-Power and now Shell V-Power Nitro+ in my '6' without issues.I run my bike on it also and it seems to like it. ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

I tried it recently. Seemed to pull a tad harder at the top end maybe, possibly a little smoother, but... It made the engine die at junctions... Using regular texaco now and it's fine..Odd. ________________________________________ SmartyMy lil toy: http://www.flickr.com/photos/martincurtisphotography/sets/72157640014140786/ |

Bp or texaco super unleaded for me every time!Rallye runs a whole lot smoother. It does have a lightened flywheel, but seems to rev up quicker than when I first had car. mpg is far better now, compared to shell or esso. ________________________________________ FRESHLY RE-FURBISHED GTI BEAMSFITTING AND LOWERING AVAILABLE. Our cars can run super or regular so I don't see any issue with putting super in. Shell doesn't agree with my Rallye. Tesco or Texaco super "seems" better. But I always get less range from Nitro+ I also whipped off the head off my old rallye engine after a few years of nothing but V-Power and it was coked up to f**k. More than I had expected to see! Now I know sensors etc will have a fair bit of say, but I replaced all the sensors when I got the car so I think the excessive carbon build up is due to shell? haha that's as scientific as you'll get ________________________________________ Red Rallye - Rolling "restoration"Wishbone Polybushes available |

Plugged her in earlier today and got a fault code for the Map sensor, swapped it for another one from my 'stock', reset the ECU, 70 miles later and happy to say all is good, pulls as i would expect it to |

Sounds like it was just coincidental then that it happened at the same time as a fuel change.________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

Loom plugs next to rad would be first point of call especially if you have an induction kit rubbing against the wires ? Then I'd check the bitron unit behind the passenger inner wheel arch liner ? Check earths under the battery tray as well |
