I bought this red rallye a few weeks back now, it's a little rough round the edges I must admit Laugh but it'll all be sorted gradually.

I just wonder if anyone on here use to own it or knew of?

my black (dirty) gti-6 had to tow it back to mine ... must say it done pretty well Thumbs up

The reg is T39 RYG

I'm going to guess he bought it as a non-runner.

Why pay for 2 lots of fuel when collecting a new car.

No no it's a perfect runner... Just the seats and exterior are tatty, respray is on the way.

It was towed for a few reasons.. one being no fuel, another is no insurance
And has no tax... Apparently not meant to tow without tax but it had MOT so I thought bugger it, it'd be fine to cruise along Smile

You shouldn't be towing with no insurance either - you're very lucky you didn't get busted. Police

Ah I know I know. . But then I thought well its gotta be better to tow it rather than drive it back Thumbs up

Luckily it was back and valley roads but from a police point of view, that's besides the point!

Really? Surely if the tow vehicle driver was insured to drive the tow vehicle then that is sufficient as the towing driver and vehicle are in control of the towed vehicle while the rope is attached? Or has bureaucracy risen to new heights of absurdity?

I thought I read a while ago that it's allowed to be towed as long as it is road worthy, that being... MOT and taxed I thought, but not for sure .

Yeah it may cost me a bit, but tbh isn't major things that need doing to it in my eyes Smile

Nope if your towing on a bar like that, it needs to be insured, tax'd and mot'd.

If your towing on a dolly, it just needs to be insured

If its on a flat bed or proper car trailer, it doesn't need any of the 3.

Rope or strap. All of the towed vehicles wheels remain in contact with the road. The towed vehicle would need to be insured for (at minimum) 3rd party risks.

Tow Pole. All of the towed vehicles wheels remain in contact with the road. The towed vehicle would need to be insured for (at minimum) 3rd party risks.

A-Frame. All of the towed vehicles wheels remain in contact with the road. The towed vehicle would need to be insured for (at minimum) 3rd party risks.

Towing Dolly. Two of the towed vehicles wheels remain in contact with the road. The towed vehicle would need to be insured for (at minimum) 3rd party risks.

A car trailer. None of the towed vehicles wheels are in contact with the road, no insurance is necessary.

Incorrect. I recently was pulled for the above, charged, recieved a letter from the police and using the fine print of the insurance details on the tow cars policy and got off with the offence.

Both my rallyes have been hidden, the first was bought from a Peugeot dealer at a year old so unlikely it was messed with.
