along where the inner skin is bonded to the outer skin of the door at the bottom, you will see some small holes. Make sure these are clear. If they are not, the bottom of the door can start to fill with water.

I've owned about 10 306's now and have had this problem in the past. If you've sorted the leak out up high then it will be door seals at best guess. When it rains hard you'll notice the seal fills with water which comes out of the holes in the seal when you squeeze it.
Once they are full the water runs over the top of the seal in the bottom corner nearest the footwell and runs down into the footwell.

I've cured it before by removing the door seal and either swapping the whole seal left to right sides, or rotating the seal 180 degrees round so the bottom is at the top and top at the bottom.

Also the door sill where the seal actually presses onto in the front bottom corner I give a bash outwards with a hammer or bend out with pliers towards the door so the seal is much tighter. Should stop your footwells being goldfish ponds.

And if you think you've dried it out there will still be at least an inch of water below the carpet and saturated in the carpet. Will take ages to clear unless you remove the carpet and hang it up.

Have had to cure many a water leak working for main dealers over the years.

If you want to make sure the door seal is touching the door nicely all the way round then smother it in grease and shut the door. It will leave a nice outline of grease on the door where it's been sealing well and less / no grease where it hasnt.

I'm pretty sure that it is the poxy door seals now. I'll have a go tonight if I get a chance so take them off completely and then reattach swapping top to bottom. sounds like a plan, heater matrix Definitely gone so that's another one for next week though oddly the coolant leaks into the drivers footwell not the passenger side?

Right small update is still leaking though not as badly now. is there any chance it could be leaking through a pollen filter housing? only the passenger side footwell that is affected now. I have another set of door seals I'm going to try replacing the door seal tonight hoping I can sort this out as beginning to feel like sending it into a garage as I'm getting really Fcked off with it now.

Are you sure the issue now isn't a leaking heater matrix Ross?

That's a lot of rain water! Shock

Try the door seal, after that how about sitting in the car and having someone spray a hose all over it and see if you can see the water coming in anywhere?

Do you still have the foam covers over the window motors on the doors? We have just worked out this is where my mates car was filling up with water. It was running down the window and running off the motor and filling the footwell up. Like you, he had a good few litres in there after a bit of rain.
Unlike yours though, his is stripped and doesn't give a f**k so just drilled a drainage hole or two in the floor LOL

My Rallye is totally stripped and the only place it gets water is condensation on the roof. I'll take the door cards off and have a gander at that Niall. just getting wound up by the Poxy thing at the moment.

Dont blame you mate. Mines doing the same at the moment. Its soaked inside. I don't think it helps that its getting no use what so ever.
If you need them covers over the window motors, they are £35 a side from Pug but my mate bought a big roll of that material which I'm sure he will cut you a bit off to replace for a drink.

could you ask him how much for enough material to do both whole doors Niall, or possibly a place to buy it from. Thanks just want to get it sorted, thought spending 5k on a car it wouldn't have too many issues just winds me up I've never had a problem with any other gti6 I've owned.

I suggested this, but rather use a friend with a hosepipe as this will probably show up the leak quicker. Smile

Can you see water dripping down from below the door card and down plastic trim that holds the edge of the carpet down?

I doubt a leak here would effect the fusebox unless it's been like it so long everything's rusting.

I cannot see where the leak is coming from there seems to be pooling in both footwells. the leak isn't as bad since I've done the door seals, Stan and Honestly3k the only day off I've had over Christmas was Christmas Day when I changed over the door seals and sealed the aircon pipes bung up. there is no water in the fuse box but the battery light is now remaining lit again since water has got into the drivers footwell again where the main earthing point is. as for this leak it has obviously been there a long while and I was never told about it when I purchased the car. but the fact that all the door cards were not on properly and the roof plastics were removed should have made me realise. if there is rust in the fuse box when I change the heater matrix I will change the dash for one I have lying around and hope that this solves some of the issue. or I may re shell it that's how Fcked off I am.

I'm still saying it has to be door seals.

Especially since the leak has improved since you fiddled with/removed-refitted them.
It may be a case of biting the bullet and buying new ones although I gather they are rather expensive. Sad

I was unaware off any leak buddy, I only had it a month before I went to Afghan when the weather was dry, when I was in Afghan it was in my mum n dads garage and only driven when it was dry!
I know Luke had a sound system in it before he sold it to me so maybe there is a hole somewhere where the amp power cable went through the bulk head!
I do feel guilty about all the issues your having with the car mate but the only one I was aware of was the clutch, if I knew it was going to have this many faults I would have stripped the car and got my money that way.
Sorry again bud, the other option is you can have richs shell for next to nothing and just swap the engine and suspension over, rich's car has an electrical fault too as the relays keep clicking even once iv swapped them for other ones and lynx couldn't find the issue so iv just lived with it ad I knew I wouldn't be using the shell or electrics
