It appears the car may not have enjoyed yesterdays fun as much as me Sad

Noticed a bit of steam out of the engine bay on the way to work, and having had a look I appear to have a water leak. Can't see exactly where, but the water is dripping (steady drip every couple of seconds) off the lower engine mount at the bottom/back of the engine (car is parked slightly nose high though). Clearly it's dripping off there as the low point, but I can't see where the leak is coming from.

Any common failures to have a look for? I don't really have time to look at it this week, so any suggestions of a decent indy garage in Bristol? I've limped the car to work in Long Ashton, and home is Downend, so anywhere between those would be a bonus.

thanks,

Jon

Had another quick look now that the car has cooled down. Dripping appears to have stopped, fairly small puddle under the car. Water level in the rad doesn't seem to have dropped much either.
So it looks like whatever is leaking is only doing it under pressure. Still can't really see enough to work out what it might be. Hoping it's only a loose hose clip!

Best check its not coming from cambelt area, could be a failing waterpump?

I wondered about that, but pump was changed a couple of months back along with the cambelt. The alt belt area looks bone dry, and it does look like it's coming down the back of the block rather than on the o/s.

The main return from the radiator goes to the back of the block so could just be a loose clamp or perished hose. Very easy to have a nosey if you have a jack.

Good suggestion. Just been out to have a look. It's not that hose, but looks like one further back and a bit further towards the centre of the car. There's a short rubber link hose that changes the pipe diameter onto a small pipe immediately behind the block. Looks like the top hose clip (spring clip) is weeping. Will get the car home and swap it over for a jubilee clip - hopefully that will solve the problem.

Hose may be perished. Not unusual.

Thumbs up Makes sense to change it while I'm under there anyway. Hopefully Pug can get one in before the weekend.

Looking at the parts database, I think it's this hose:
    1341 A3
However that shows a straight hose, and I'm pretty sure this one is a reducer. Is that normal for the parts database?
