Simple stuff first, you must have 4 things for an engine to run. Air, compression, spark, fuel.
If you have spark and fuel, try turning it over with the throttle slightly open as the TB is closed on these the ICV does the work and it will rule that out.
I'd then check the quality of the spark with a little in-line spark tester which are pretty cheap to buy, also put a plug in the end of a coil and rest it against something metal, crank it over and see I it's a weak spark or nice strong one.
How long has the car been sat? Any chance of water or condensation in the fuel tank?
Compression test is the next obvious one..... You want fairly even reading accross all 4 cylinders. I forget what a 6 engine should read but I'm sure it must be in a thread here somewhere.
Other than that check all earths and loom connections etc. Are you 100% that your spare crank sensor is good?
