Right, so my captive nuts have quite a bit of play on them and it's causing it to knock as the joint gets moved about (braking, hard turn-ins etc). I've not had a chance to look for a solution, but as my car isn't with me, does anyone know if the nuts can be repaired in the subframe, or is it a new subframe I'll need?________________________________________ Red Rallye - Rolling "restoration"Wishbone Polybushes available |

Which captive nuts? If you mean the ones on the front wishbone mount point that the long bolt screws into then they're supposed to be loose.________________________________________ Rich |

They should go solid once done up, it seems to me that your bolts are either going thread bound (not sure how) or your just not doing them up enough, you can just slide the nuts out of the subframe! |

I had a quick look and the bolts are thread bound or stripped. They bind up whilst being undone and have play when tightened. If the nuts will come out of the subframe, like you say, I'll just windy gun it out and make another nut________________________________________ Red Rallye - Rolling "restoration"Wishbone Polybushes available |

Then you'll have to suck it up and buy the matching bolts and 'nuts'. I have a couple of the old type of 'nut' somewhere if you have the existing bolts handy. Edit. Notice you stripped the old bolts. I'll have some, but they'll be with a million other similar bolts ________________________________________ ![]() |
