Hi guys, typical newbie question, I've searched FAQ's and can't find what i'm looking for What calipers and discs would be a direct fit onto my Rallye. I can see many threads on sooooooo many brake set up's, but is there a particular set up to use; ie discs from a 406 Coupe and calipers from a bmw530i etc. cheers all. ________________________________________ Bianca 306 Rallye.Mondeo Titanium X. |

I've heard the Brembo 406 calipers are a nice way to go ________________________________________ Richies Project RallyeElectrical work carried out in Portsmouth jamiek_uk2000 wrote: - Top Tip!!! A good performing setup is Brembos from a 406 Coupe along with Xantia 288mm discs. You would need to ensure that your particular wheel fits with these though as not all do. The only downside to this setup is they are known to squeal A LOT. This is generally only under light braking though, so if you were only looking for track use where they would be used heavily then it wouldn't be an issue. ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

I've got some nice 225 Renault sport calipers with everything you need to get them running. ________________________________________ 98 onyx black 306 Rallye53 Nissan Primastar silver (work horse) 58 black Volvo c30 sport |

I personally will be going for a willwood set-up so I can keep my clones and not run stupid spacers. ________________________________________ See the sheer power and might of the lesser known burrowing owl. |

That's ok, but for track use I'd recommend a larger diameter combination especially to help dissipate the extra heat generated on track. If you're not going to visit the track then they'll be fine. Seeing as you're main event is Pugfest, they'll be great for that though. ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

They should still be a decent improvement on standard setup id have thought. Im also contemplating stripping mine and starting track days but would still want to keep the clones. Im sure willwoods and good pads would be sufficient. A lot of people still use standard stuff on track with few issues. Its the problem with 15s. Choice is limited. ________________________________________ See the sheer power and might of the lesser known burrowing owl. |

Indeed, they will be a big improvement over the standard setup - I would just rather have a bigger setup to ensure overheating/fade was kept to a minimum, or in the case of 330's it's zero.Would be good if you did decide to hit the track mate, I'm sure you'd love it. ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

Hi Stan, would this set up fit under my cyclones bud? and would they bolt straight on or is there a bracket to be made ________________________________________ Bianca 306 Rallye.Mondeo Titanium X. |

You'll need 20mm spacers to fit under cyclones. ________________________________________ See the sheer power and might of the lesser known burrowing owl. |

Y´d like to improve a bit the brakes, and want to keep the Cyclones. 20mm spacers sound too much for me, so... What is the Willwood´s model you´re talking about? Are they a direct fit? |

If you're going to spend serious money on calipers, don't buy Wilwoods, they are a bit s**t in comparison to say 2nd hand set of Renault sport Brembo's or similar.________________________________________ 205 Van SC'd GTI6 - because why not309 Goodwood V6 - sold 205 Rallye GTI6 - Bent |

The point is, if you want to upgrade and want to keep cyclones the set up you mentioned wont work. ________________________________________ See the sheer power and might of the lesser known burrowing owl. |

Is keeping the cyclones really that important? Surely by changing the wheels to give you more brake flexibility would benefit the whole package.________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

I love the way my one looks on cyclones and bigger means more money for the tires I like which negates why I got a 6. Which was to save on running costs as the impreza was a touch expensive. Alrhough I do agree with you to a point. ________________________________________ See the sheer power and might of the lesser known burrowing owl. |

Yes, I'm with you on the fact that aftermarket 15's look wrong - they have to 17's in my opinion to have the right cosmetic impact. I know Damien used to run the Wilwoods under cyclones and he loved the braking. Didn't seem to help much at the second hairpin at Pugfest though when they were digging him out the gravel trap... ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

I think the KAD 6 pots fit under clones as well, but I'm not 100% sure on that! Although they're pretty rare second hand. It's a bit of a compromise when it comes to brakes, especially under 15"s. I guess the obvious question has to be asked but have you tried with a decent set of standard pads and discs first before upgrading? ________________________________________ Rallye Race Car |

If im honest, at the relatively low speeds at pugfest, my srandard brakes havent been an issue. Its the higher speeds where they seem to fade out a bit under very heavy use. Which dont happen too often. The kad ones are rarer than rocking horse s**t which is a shame.________________________________________ See the sheer power and might of the lesser known burrowing owl. |

Carbon lorraine RC6 pads work well in standard calipers, if you can live with the dust.If you are prepared to do your research and design your own setup then you can get reasonable size 4 pots under 15's, but it won't be a cheap setup, and cyclones will make life a little more difficult. ________________________________________ Goldie the track car. |
