Hi Guys,

has anyone managed to source a longer wheel bolt or a stud and nut conversion making a possible to run C5 steels with spacers?

Ideally I want to be running a stud conversion and the stud side of it isn't a problem but sourcing a nut that works with the 60 degree spinny washer is the issue. I can purchase a 60 degree fixed tapered nut on a M12 x 1.25mm thread but the C5 rim requires the spin washer to not cause damage to the taper.

Ive already ordered studs which are not quite long enough as a I took "68mm exposed length" on the description as what would be sticking out of the hub which is spot on. What I actually have is a 68mm overall stud length which now is 20mm to short for my needs! also have a set of Peugeot nuts with flat spin washers that I could put my 60 degree washer in between but that setup isn't ideal

Ash

this could work....

may have answered my own question.

Ford Focus alloy wheel nuts are M12 X 1.25mm and have a 60 degree spin washer

like so

I ordered from eBay with a firm, I'll dig out the name of them for you. I had brass washers which are changable on the nuts which spun and fit perfectly. I remember they weren't cheap but I didn't want to scrimp on keeping my wheels on LOL

It's a massive ball ache. I had to convert to stud/nut in order to run my wheels

Don't know about nuts but Demon Tweeks have various lengths of 60 degree bolts with a loose washer.

I should have said I was after flat seated bolts for my M05's.

I know Grayston sell conversion washers, they may have the nuts you're after?

Graystons are s**te and many people have had them cross thread etc, try Peugeot sport in France on the web or ebay abmotorsport iirc, they sell 12.9 rating ones in black, IIRC they are £9 each and if you use 3 per hub then much cheaper and the forth can be used for a locking bolt with separate washer n grease or plain bolt.

I have them with my C5's but I have the long ones for other show type alloys I have etc. I used tapered washers with tapered nuts from rally design and some grease in-between, so nut turns but washer does not. This uses the same principle.

Although I did try to buy some more of these washers and after trying hard could not find a place that sells them anymore, you may find some if you're lucky. Or you could use tapered washers with a flat face using flat face nuts with grease, again same principle.

Here they are, they do sell studs on their own as well.

What nuts did you buy from rally design?
http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/index.php?cPath=2040_2239_734

There's the link to there nuts, I purchased the peugeot open nuts that are on page 2.

I was hoping my c5 washer would work with them but its too small. I guess I could look for tapered washers with a larger outer diameter to work with my rally design peugeot open nuts

found these and going to order them.

come as a set of 20 which included 4 locking ones which I wont use.

I only plan to do the fronts but gives me the option if I want to change to studs on the rear.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Racing-Composite-R40-Wheel-Locking-Lug-Nut-M12x1-25-Gunmetal-Skyline-200SX-GTR-/300980740638?pt=UK_Cars_Parts_Vehicles_Wheels_tyres_Trim_Nuts_ET&hash=item4613d9a21e

which ill match with these studs from Demon tweeks in M12 X 1.25mm with a length of 82mm overall

I got these nuts http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=4650

However they don't have washers as part of them so I ordered same separate 60 degree tapered washers and used grease between them and the nuts. they don't seem to sell them washers any more.

So for that reason I did spot some tapered (ie to fit C5 wheel holes) with flat face washers using flat face nuts. There isn't any need for extra large nuts just the ones iv linked are enough for the size etc.

Ill just grab a picture for you.

Here you go, here is mine just not fitted on the car as I have no pictures of them yet.

Do you know what I mean by tapered flat face nuts and washers?

If you get new studs just make sure they are the extra long 80mm or 100mm iirc type to cope with the spacers, Peugeot sport on the web sell them as do AB motorsport off ebay. I think 80mm is the longest they do, so hopefully will be enough for your spacers etc.

The nuts you posted look too long, the stud wont come out of them enough but they may be ok and stay on, I just prefer the stud to poke out the nuts so I can keep an eye on them. the nuts I posted are open ended.

Just noticed the nuts you posted have the washer attached, quite a rare find tbh. I tried to find some a while back, just a pity they aren't smaller in length so the stud pokes out a bit.

Good find with them studs, pretty cheap too Thumbs up

The studs I've gone for are the 80mm ones.
I've calculated and the hub, disc, spacer and rim will take up 50mm so I've got 30mm free stud for the nut.

Yes them nuts are long but I've seen that style on jap track cars and in the flesh they look fine.

I'll update when it all arrives on Monday/Tuesday

By the sound of it they do sound like they will look good, pictures do make them look really long.

Look forward to seeing how they look with spacers on etc Thumbs up

Why buy Grayston products if you think they're s**te?

I have 80mm studs and I have the flat seated "Peugeot" nuts, work fine. Haven't slackened off or crossed and my wheels are off at least once a week. None have bent or snapped. My only complaint so far is that I had to turn off some of the "hub" thread to avoid it fouling
